bIT of a long shot, but is it a plausible theory that neev ex of kiss (on maternity but starting to come back) will take over from bassman on afternoons...? Just a thought...
I have the feeling that could happen she just started to nightclub djing.

I presumed Neev would return to her mids show at KISS, with Pandora just being maternity cover.

Not a chance. Way off the scale with this thought!

Looks like the clock changes have affected the 6 am opt out of Capital N Wales this morning, the emergency tape fired off for 30 mins, then the last 30 mins of the welsh output, then that finished 5 mins early with ads playing on top of the trailers before being all sorted by 7 am.

The output from the backup tape is not on the stream.

Backup tapes play from the transmitter site. Streams and OD audio are usually recorded using output from the station building, before it is sent for transmission.

How did the transmitter know to play the backup?

There will be a silence detector at the TX site, when it notices that audio has been below a set DB for set number of Seconds it will play the audio backup. Once the TX gets audio again above the set DB it will switch off the backup.

Exactly correct, this is why whenever the power cuts out at a transmitter site (which rarely happens as there is usually backup power supplied) the backup tape doesn't fire, as the silence detector and minidisc are based at the TX.

Some stations have a silence detector integrated into their playout system.

Amiee is the only one strong enough on Capital. So either her or someone else from outside of global. Most of Capitals presenters on the out stations are not good enough for the flagship station.

what a sad indictment of the radio industry ...capital used to be the 2nd biggest gig on the radio after radio 1 ..its now inhabited by ex tv presenters or z list celebs

Why? Is there a well hidden fued between Neev and Capital management? Or do you not think she is right for the brand?

This isn't a chat site. All three of your posts are completely pointless and could have been compressed into one single post if you'd edited the original.

That's a crazy situation. I know it's just your opinion but if you're right and if that's how they feel at HQ then something is wrong! Surely the local stations are where the future talent should be nurtured?

Alternatively - people who the listeners have actually heard of and have a bit of a following.

Look, I'm not a massive fan of the idea that Mark Wright nips into a studio, records links for a bit and some tech-op tidies them up and makes the show sound wonderful, but ultimately what matters is what comes out the speakers and how many people are listening.

Frankly, most commercial radio shows could be replaced by someone recording their links in half an hour and no-one would notice.
