"heal this pain" "flawless" "careless whisper" "the edge of heaven" "freedom" and "don't let the sun go down on me" are getting played on Capital as a tribute to the late great George Michael.

Thats really good off Global. Did they do this for any other artists this year e.g Prince or Bowie.

IIRC George Michael and Richard Park used to be good friends, and George had a close relationship with Capital back in the 90s, so I'm not surprised Global are going heavy on the tributes.

I remember them going quite hard for a week with the Bowie tunes, probably at least 1 a show during the daytime hours!

Can't think what they did round prince though

Capital North Wales have dropped the 5 am welsh hour opt out from the 3rd of January well it was pointless having it on there because Capital Cymru play's a lot of Welsh music.

Yeah its just a different studio, The studios can actually change branding as its all electronic, So at a flick of the switch the studio can go from Capital to Smooth if they wanted.

I enjoy Rob's shows. Haven't heard him on his breakfast show however on the network he has done some very funny little links that are great.

Toni Phillips is a presenter that should be used more on Capital, in my opinion one of the best female presenters and also one of the best CHR jocks in the UK. She suits the format very well and her short snappy links ooze content.

Toni is a bit like Kat Shoob was, Stupidly underused. Toni is my fave presenter at Global. Mayb those in charge don't hear what we hear. Think she regrets leaving Kiss as she got shunted over to Capital Xtra. She once said the reason she moved from Kiss to Capital was because her agent told her to!

I agree with every word you say, HOWEVER, she's clearly into hip hop and R&B. In addition the presenters are given much more air time on Xtra than on Capital and are encouraged to talk about the music.. So for me personally I want her to stay right where she is as she's doing a fantastic job. I can see why she would rather be on the main FM station though.
