Some Radio programmers don't get it do they. Hammering the same 8 tracks every day all day is gonna piss off your listeners!

Also, the travel news is appalling for the regions outside of London.....stations using 'busy in the usual places', when your needing travel news and your not local to that area, how would you know what the 'usual places' are. With millions getting away for the Easter break this weekend, i can see many switching to other stations away from Capital for better detailed coverage.

Dave Kelly's last show is Thursday.

Has it actually officially been announced that James Barr is taking over?

The only reference I've seen was James tweeting/posting on FB, that he starts new shows next weekend. But that could just mean he's taking over Scott's old shifts.

I've just remembered that Dave Berry comes to weekend breakfast on 95.8 soon, so Greg and Bassman might be moving along a slot each on Saturdays, and Roberto into the 1-4 on Sunday.

Also, just checked the schedule, and James is now in the 11-3 slot (he wasn't earlier) Mash is now in sat 2-6 and 3style on sun 2-5 (with Margherita starting an hour earlier, too)

Notice James Barr is also listed from Saturdays 7-11pm - wonder if that'll be a normal show or include remixs?

I think it's Sacha Brooks who will be on Sunday 2-5am although the picture shows a dead image link of 3Style.

The East Midlands schedule is also listing the weekend local show as running from 8am-12noon. The North East is listing them as 9am-12.30pm!

For this Sunday night, he is, possibly because Monday is bank holiday, but I reckon he will be in 11-3 as Dave is now, normally.

Personally I'd like to see James Barr in Dave's slot and Adele Roberts brought in for Scott's weekend slots. Adele should have been given a network gig, she is wasted on weekend brekkie up in Yorkshire!

James Barr is getting Dave Kelly's slot. Totally agree about Adele, on the other hand, Sacha Brooks was quite good too. Would rather hear Sacha on daytimes across the network instead of Roberto and Bassman!

You've got a point there, I much preferred galaxy in its hit music days than Capital now. The imaging, personality and music worked well.

All of the Galaxy jocks were like Dave Kelly and came across as cool, added personality to short-links, and the imaging was brilliant. Sadly Capital sometimes seems to sound a bit like someone in their 40s trying to be 'down with the kidz'.

That 'Capital breakfast show' sung jingle is something I truly despise!

Dave Kellys last show on Capital in 5 mins.

Late nights wont be the same without Dave and 'the big show'

Listening now - am gutted! Dave, Producer Ben and the big show will be missed! Even in features-free form it was a great listen.

Oh definitely. Especially on Capital Yorkshire where it's never been branded as 'Galaxy Breakfast' or 'Breakfast' just Hirty's Daily Dose. Now it's "Hirsty's Daily Dose... The Capital Breakfast Show" - doesn't work IMO should've kept it just as Hirsty's Daily Dose!

The Capital imaging is so lacklustre and cheesy compared to Kiss.

To be fair they have let Hirsty keep all of his own imaging though, the Peter Dickson stuff etc.
The Dose wouldn't have been the same without it.
But yeah, the sung breakfast jingles are straight outta the eighties. Truly dire.

A lot of the normal presenters are on all the bank holidays like roberto and the bassman. and obviously not just on capital either. If u do a six day week in radio now what is the current holiday / bank holiday entitlement?

Most jocks are self-employed freelancers, day off = don't get paid.

Excellent last show from Dave Kelly last night. His last link, he mentioned how he used to hang a coat hanger outside his window listening Capital when he was younger, and he was pleased to get the chance to be on Capital. His last song was one he used to listen to in his car on the way in when Des Paul was doing Dance Anthems,

Currently listening to Andi Durrant for the first time, and tbh i don't think its a very good show. Seem to be a lot of songs that have probably been borrowed from Heart Club Classics! A really bizarre mix.

Agree, Andi is very hit and miss, but this current "dance" show between 2 and 5am is just awful!

The presenter is filling his show with tunes that just have bland repetitive hooks and loops.

So is this a sign of the Capital bosses are finally giving in to the thought that the Galaxy weekend was on to a winner. With two more specialist shows after Andi, does this mean that we'll see James Barr in the mix before and therefore will Rich Clarke be dropped on a Friday too?
Current schedule shows James doing Friday nights but that can't be right.

Another confusion, adam o'neil away on yorkshire drive this week and we have Matt Foister covering instead of Adele. seems odd

His last link was a pre-recorded split link across the different stations. In Yorkshire he talked about doing the big show, going away (aka his move to 95.8) then coming back again. Not sure what he would have said in areas where he didn't have some sort of history or connection with, South Wales or the East Midlands.

Was Dave Berry just 'playing the hits' or was it a personality-based show?

The 'new' 2am-5am specialist shows are existing shows to meet the formats of the Scotland and Birmingham stations (a rock/dance crossover show for Scotland, R&B/Reggae for Birmingham) previously broadcast in those areas only.

In the case of the Birmingham licence, it's hard to believe that it's been allowed to morph into a "hit music" station with a token attempt to meet its format at 2am on a Saturday night. It has virtually the same 'black music' requirements as Choice FM in London but the music is completely different: http://comparemyradio.com/compare/Ca...gham/Choice_FM Orion should really have a word with Ofcom about this..
