From what I heard it was personality based, a bit strange for capital!

Everything on Kiss sounds better than Capital, the sung "capital breakfast" jinlge sounds awfull on Capital South Coast. Even the news on Kiss is better than Capital.

Galaxy sounded brilliant when it first came to 103.2 and although it was a shame to see local Power FM go, the music and presentation on Galaxy was great. Capital sounds awful.

I live just outside of Capital South Coasts area so hear it in the car to work every day, on DAB I'd listen to Galaxy UK and loved Hirsty, wish he was on Capital "UK" (which is also poor as there's no "UK" branding)

Not to mention the bit rate.

Yep.. with this and the specialist shows from 2am-5am perhaps they got a polite warning about the lack of specialist music on the ex-Galaxy stations

Well I'm happy

But does this mean there is no remixes during the week?

Seem to be a lot more remix songs than previously heard on the weekday late show.

I would have thought that weekday 11pm-3am would still need to include songs remixed, unless Capital have now managed to reduce specialist hours to 16?

Now why the hell wasn't Dave Kelly doing a Saturday evening show like this in recent months!?!?

I don't know if it was a Radio Player error or a Studio error (Which would be unfortunate as it was his last link), but I listened back to the last few minutes of Dave's show on South Coast, but got the London link.

Would he have done/did he do all 9 split links for his last, or just a live one for London and a special Yorkshire one (where he started), and everyone else a general no-area-mentioned version?

I may be wrong, but I think its just the London version that plays out on the 'listen again' feature.

He said on twitter that he did separate links for London, the ex-Galaxys and the ex-Hit Music network.

Could the networking of specialist shows just be a cheap way to avoid replacing James Barr on weekend overnights?

Perhaps, but in light of dance music/remixes returning to Weekend evenings I suspect there's more to it. Otherwise they could have just gone with three hours of non stop music overnight. Throwing some dance/remixes into Dave Kelly's show alongside the usual tracks was hardly in keeping with the format.

I was gonna ask, was "James Barr in the mix" just for the long weekend, or is this the new line up permanantly for Saturday nights? If so, I rather like it! And they definatly would of needed to do something as they were hardly near the format for the "original" Galaxy stations. the Joey Negro session on tonight was great! And Andi Durrant has just been saying Saschas got some grime and dubstep on the way next i think?

I agree that is something to do with specialist hours. They could have just moved Scott London back onto overnights otherwise, or gone with non stop music. It does seem strange that Heart has non stop club classics through the night, but Capital have DJs 24/7

I can't believe they are doing this just after Dave 'no longer allowed to be in the mix' Kelly left!

Isn't Capital slowly morphing in to Galaxy then? There isn't room for 2 kiss-style services in London surely?

Earlier there was a power cut, and I had a radio that uses batteries which I hadn't used for ages so I switched it on and was tuning around, when I stumbled across Capital, and what do you think Capital was playing? This was before the chart.

I shan't keep you in suspense. "Like a G6 Like a G6". That's what Capital was playing.

James Barr currently showing up in the Friday 7-11, instead of Mr Clarke. If it's true and he's in the mix, then brilliant. But I'm thinking it's an error, as that puts him on air 7 days a week..?

James Barr's first hour last night was excellent with lots of new dance tunes and remixes, not sure if it continued after 12 or whether just the first hour each night will be dance/remixes.

The whole playlist is definitely sounding more rhythmic and closer to the former Galaxy sound. Even The Wanted aren't being played quite so much! Just take away Adele's "Someone Like You" and the Galaxy playlist is back.

No there's not. We all know what happened last time Capital started sounding like Kiss don't we I don't think next week will be a good week at Global towers lets put it that way

Could be the new PD (who's ex Galaxy) starting to make his mark.

Or Ashley's woken up one morning, heard Kiss playing a dance track and ordered Capital to play more dance.

Honestly, that's how he works ...

What's their coverage of Osama Bin Laden been like?

CAPITAL FM... EAST MIDLANDS... "Osama Bin Laden has been shot dead by US Forces. Katy Perry's led the congratulations to those involved on Twitter and Justin Bieber tells us that the atmosphere at Ground Zero is electric."
