Global are guilty on all counts - but will anything change?
Capital South Coast, and Galaxy before it, have never done local news during the daytime but the format requires them to do so.

Heart would do well to deliver specific bulletins to each licensed area, it's not hard to do and would sound better. It would actually go someway to shaddow the networking a bit.

i thought galaxy/capital didn't have to because heart SC do, something to do with the split of the old frequencies many moons ago, or am i making that bit up? although saying that power fm did local news all day long.

on another note, do we think james Barr has moved down south to london? or is he networking from the yorkshire studios?
either way he sounds good, and it's good to hear him again and good to hear some more upbeat remixes.

I'd say the opposite.
Handing over to Sky adds to the cred of the news.
Not when the tags were recorded ages ago.

Yes his show comes from London. He moved there in January when Galaxy re-branded. Or at least he made out as though he was moving on Facebook/Twitter. I would have thought he would have moved there definitely now he's on 6 days a week.

It would be quite confusing to always be live on 95.8, and mostly VTd on everywhere else, if he was sat in Yorkshire's studios.

James broadcasts from London.

He's been at his family home since Galaxy was canned. Which is understandable, having initially found himself down to two shows a week on Capital.

He's a great presenter. A daft sod, but a great presenter. And much deserving of six shows a week.

Rich Clarke is off tonight.
First hour the TOH ID was for Rich but James Barr was on air.
2nd and 3rd hour fine.
This hour (10) Rich TOH went again then Rich's voice was heard, swiftly faded out. How are they going to get themselves out of this one.

Sacha Brooks is on Capital tonight between 2-5am. I expect some more ex-Galaxy presenters will be back on air in the coming months for holiday cover.

Margerita Taylor has been rewarded for her loyalty with a 5am-8am slot to make way for Dave Berry......oh dear

I heard this too.... But only the 10pm TOH.
Didn't listen at all yesterday night, but they have only added the London 'listen again' on Radio Player, I had a quick listen to all of the TOHs and they were all fine.

Margherita does 10pm-2am Monday - Friday on Classic FM, too.

No doubt she finishes at 2am on Saturday, goes to the staff room for a bit of sleep, then wakes up in time for the 5am start on Capital. lol

But the London output is often live, when the rest of the network gets precorded segments.

I'm not feeling Dave Berry's new show. It sticks out like a sore thumb on the usual ipod shuffle format of Capital. I don't find him funny either, which I suppose is a huge draw-back. He sounds like he's trying too hard - but it just doesn't fit. I never thought I'd ask for more music, but if I turn on Capital now, love it or hate it, that's what I expect.

I would have thought the nine different TOH jingles would all have been fired off at the same time though?

Anyway, the point was, they only added the London version of the listen again, so they must have known it all went a bit wrong. I can imagine it would have been on Radio Fail within minutes. lol

Sacha's show is a specialist R&B/Reggae show, previously in Birmingham only but networked as of last week.

Not if it's "smart networked" like the daytime shows are. They present their shows live on 95.8 in London from the main studio. They pre-record their links for the rest of the network, and these are then played out from a second studio.
The national output can be very different to London, with songs playing at different times, and completely different content.

Dave Kelly on the other hand, used to be live on London and the network, and fired off everything at the same time as you describe. I don't know if James still does that, as I don't find him as easy to listen to.

I always thought Dave was near enough live on all stations. I think only his TOH links were split, and I remember hearing the same pre-recorded "bell me up on 0800.., it's Capital FM South Coast" link played out a few times during his show.

I quite regularly switch from London on Freeview to South Coast on DAB, and they are usually only seconds apart, so I guessed James was mostly live, too.

I would imagine they pay less attention to appearing to be nine different stations outside of peak times.

Wasn't he on Capital a few years ago and given the chop? If so I wonder why he's back.

Do the regional Capitals have the same format weekend breakfast, or do they get more music instead?

I think South Coast flicked into back-up CD at just before 3 this afternoon. Adverts failed to play after Will's last link, so had silence before we got half of Cee Lo Greens forget you, then the TOH jingle kicked in.

Heart's been having advert issues also.

I doubt it, I highly recommend BBC Radio 1, I can thank Capitals repetitiousness for me giving it another try and finding it a big improvement over Capital.

I still stand by my claim of processing changes, even if it is slight when Andi is on.

Listening to James in the mix and then to Andi... James' show was very tinny and hissy but Andi's wasn't with more bass (from the same spot in Mc Donalds car park in West Quay, Southampton)
