Shocking.”

I was just about to write about that. Also, when they play Diddy Featuring Dirty Money and Skylar Grey "Coming Home" they have totally removed Skylar Grey's bit at the beginning which is the best part of the song. I listen to Z100 from New York and KIISFM from LA and they never hack songs to death. Wtf Capital?

Yeah, just the one.

I wonder why they didn't re-sing them all?

One-oh-three-point-two and nine-tee-five-point-eight have the same amount of syllables, so it would have been easily done.

Exactly, they even stretched that one jingle for 105 and 102.
But as it's the only one they did, it's getting a bit old.
Its a real shame they don't have a big jingle for the top of hour anymore. The "let's go" ramp with just "capital fm" sung is pretty naff, and nothing like the Z100 style one they used to have.

Matt Lissack is in Leicester Square covering, it still seems to be network as usual.

Isn't that the whole point of the split-link-smart-networking thing, so that it appears local?

I was listening to Bigtop40 on Fire last night, really tinny capital sound, Fire doesn't process like this normally... I'm pretty shocked that potentially networked shows are being processed twice on Capital's around the country...

Just noticed that Capital on the Bournemouth DAB Mux is now taking the South Coast version rather than London. Bit rate has also been reduced from 128 to 112.

Has this happened on any of the other Muxes ?

I'll look on the Southampton/Hampshire Mux tonight.

They did this when it was Galaxy.
Capital has been 112Kbps for the best part of half a year at least.
It dosen't sound great but it sounds better than it does on FM.

I thought I'd give Capital a listen today. It sounds very tinny especially through my tv but the cutting of songs is absolutely terrible. They were halfway through Pink - Raise Your Glass then BOOM straight in to The Bassman talking crap and playing another song.

Then later on I heard J-Lo's 'On The Floor' and couldn't believe they removed Pitbull's intro and put it in the middle of the song

They've probably retouched about 40% of their playlist. "Cooler Than Me" is another example.

I agree. I was in my workmate's car earlier and Crapital FM was on. I'm not a fan of a lot of Chart Music out today but J'lo's "On the Floor" isn't too bad considering that is my 2 1/2 year old nephew's favourite song.

Crapital's dodgy edit has quite frankly murdered the track. Since when does the beginning of a song, gets cut out and pasted somewhere in the middle? Where's the logic in that?

Has anyone heard what Heart London has done to "I Gotta Feeling"?

That edit's been on Heart since the song came out!

Agreed on the J-Lo edit though. I know it's working on paper, but some of the decisions being made at Capital are just bonkers. Totally bloody bonkers.

I have to say.. I think the networking works quite well! How the presenter finds time to do a load of split links for each station as well as his actual show is beyond me, but it seems to work from what I've heard

They are all recorded beforehand and played out from a seperate studio.

Ant Payne is a great listen on South Coast breakfast this week. He did a funny links about how he'd mistaken a guy dressed as a wrestler at the Global conference for his friend, made colourful remarks, then found out it was a stranger.

Then he asked listeners to text in with their experiences. This works, because I can remember it, and it has stuck in my mind.

It just goes to show you don't need a double header. Also, it shows that Capital does have personality. You just need to work the formatics.

Did you hear him almost say "Johnny and Lisa" when saying who he was covering for? Made me lol

For all Capital's faults, I have to agree that the way the networking is actually done is brilliant. The DJs must work their arses off.

That's how all networking should be done - a quality core programme with lots of TX specific links.

Actually there isn't as much pressure on the jocks as you would think. Most of the work is done by full time tech op's. That way on air talent can concentrate on London.

The links are all pre-recorded before the show, so the on-air presenter only has to worry about presenting the show for London.

But saying that I wouldn't mind betting some of the links are probably used more than once. The playlist is repetitive, and the only thing they talk about is a gig that has no relevance to anyone outside London, so why not recycle them.

There must be some live links?? The ones introducing the song you need to listen out for to ring to win Summertime ball tickets sounds different to the others.

Plus, if the links and music doesn't line up perfectly at some point, surely either London or the others would hear the record before the others, and they'd have an unfair advantage in phoning up to be on line 1 and win the tickets?
