How are they still doing this. I mean sure there will be problems are the start, but its been 8 months.

That went out in London too, which is weird because I thought they separated the output during the day.

It's what James Barr says at 7pm on a Saturday night, basically when people start getting ready to go out.

Is radio player broken? Apart from some interviews, nothing else is showing up in the "listen again" section

It only works occasionally.

London is missing, but then again all the listen again shows appear to be the East Midlands version, which still has the error in it from 10am

This showbiz crap is really getting tiring on Capital. Galaxy did it a bit but generally, like Kiss, asked people what they were getting up to and tried to relate to their audience with topical stuff, latest trends, etc - not just what Lady Gaga ate for breakfast...

I miss the Capital of 2009/2010 where they could play all types of music, Paul Jackson was running the show, sounded really fast-paced and tight, and Dave Kelly was doing Saturday Night Capital. He does the same type of show on Key 103 Manchester nowadays and it is brilliant. He seems a huge hit here in Liverpool too on Radio City!

In fact, Key 103 in general is sounding how capital really should at the weekend.

Yeah, Dave Kelly is an amazing talent, Capital were mad to shunt him into the late-night slot.

I find the showbiz stuff annoying too. For a more personality-led 'Galaxy' type presentation you have to listen to the local shows as most of the network jocks seem to be given some kind of a script where they have to mention showbiz stories off the Capital website in nearly every link.

According to this: http://radiotoday.co.uk/2011/09/ofco...ring-in-songs/ Capital were recently rapped for playing an unedited version of Do it like a dude by Jessie J.

Which makes me think, how is James Barr getting away with playing that "What the F*ck" song a couple of times a week, unedited?

Are OfCom unaware and therefore not doing anything about it, or would Capital have got permission for this before hand?

James Barr played it again just now.
I've just bashed the following complaint into the Ofcom website - shall I hit "submit" or not?

Quote:
“Subject: Complaint about Capital FM

How would you feel if somebody came into your house and began farting – loudly, intentionally and repeatedly?
This morning, some stinky-mouthed oik came into my home via Capital FM Network and let rip swearing, in just the same way.

The unedited version of “Loca People - What the F*** was played in James Barr’s show again. The song repeats the line “What the F***” throughout.

I’m complaining not simply because children might hear it, but because I object to it.

The DJ brags about playing the unedited version both before and after, so it wasn’t played by mistake.

By definition, swearing is offensive and disrespectful - at least when coming from strangers. ”

Why do you need to be told whether to hit submit or not. Surely you're the one that either was or wasn't offended?

The Jessie J track was played at about 19:30 which is why it was a problem. The unedited version of that "What the F..." track is only played late at night (03.55 last night) when kids are unlikely to be listening, so that's not an issue.

This sort of thing really winds me up. If you are offended, DON'T LISTEN! turn your radio off before the song if you really get deeply offended by one word that I imagine you have heard many times in your life before anyway. This is the type of thing that kills good radio, why can't radio be a bit edgy, I mean capital is already tightly formatted as it is. Please only complain if you truly are offended by it and not just for the sake of it and out of radio principle, otherwise I'll be asking you 'what the f**k?'

If you were genuinely offended then you shouldn't need permission to complain.

On the other hand if you're just trying to make a point for the sake of it then you're no better than the Daily Mail readers who complained about Ross & Brand.

I'll complain if I want to ta.
I listen to Capital because it's about the only UK station that plays music I like. I shouldn't have to turn it off because some yobs get off on swearing.

For me, that song ruined otherwise good radio
(the unedited version played by James Barr at 01:55 Tuesday).

I'm not "deeply offended" by normal swearing among friends/colleagues or in the context of genuine humour or drama. I do not foam at the mouth or have fits when people swear, but that song, with the words "what the f***" repeated over and over again, is not just "a bit edgy" it's beyond the pale. It's my valid opinion that it should not be on the radio at any time of day (nothing to do with children hearing it).

If my opinion winds you up, tough. It's not the syntax of the word itself that offends, it's the disrespect that it represents.

If you're "deeply offended" by my posts, don't read them.

You don't have to turn it off. You're choosing to turn it off because it's broadcasting material that you don't like.

(That's exactly what I do when Capital broadcasts material I don't like, which is all the ****ing time, due to the shitty music on their playlist.)

I can see why you might be offended by strong language on the radio - plenty of people are. But, equally, plenty of people aren't, and at two o'clock in the morning, I think it's not unreasonable that they broacast - with prior warning - songs containing strong language.

I find it ironic that you've written that. Why can't you do that when the radio broadcasts something not to your taste?

They played Loca People (a song that fits well into the Capital format - it's a well known dance track, satisfying the "dance" element of their format in some areas) in the early hours of this morning. James Barr warned 2 songs earlier that he was going to play it. And the Ofcom code says radio stations must provde protection at times when children are most likeley to be listening.

I can't imagine many young children are sat up listening to Capital FM at 3am.

The swearing they've been punished for was in the afternoon. The bulletin says Capital FM have taken "internal disciplinary action" following this breach of the code. Probably against James Barr himself?

You best complain about every single TV channel besides QVC as you will hear much more colourful language there than on the radio.

Good lord...just saw on comparemyradio.com that Capital London are playing 131 unique tracks in 30 days! It is a good listen in short bursts as there is a good chance of hearing your favourite track of the moment (if it's a non-guitar pop/rnb/dance track) so it does what it says on the tin but I never thought it was just quite that tight now!
