And I, in turn, should apologise for not having specified Friday night!

Daytime playlist all the way through till Andi Durrant finally gets to kick things off very belatedly at 11pm. Booooring.

What happened to the Galaxy Weekend? "48 hours off from the world!"

Doesn't Kiss start their specialist output during the week at 10pm now? That's only a hour difference.

The programmes omnidirectional are indeed network shows.
Kiss does indeed start their specialist output at 10pm of a weeknight, before it was 9pm. They've cut back on the specialist stuff a lot I think, it used to be from 9pm - 4am now it's 10pm - 2am.

It's not a bad thing though, I do like to hear a lot more commercial stuff if I'm up just after 2 and I can not stand Capital which tries to be trendy and cool so I normally go to KISS. Saying that though, DJ Swerve is quite commercial with the RnB and Hip Hop last time I listened (which was August )

No, it kicks off at 8pm, unless Saturday Night Kiss doesn't count as specialist any more.
Would Kissialicious not count as specialist then as all the tunes are in the mix?

Ah, right. I heard rumours of that before, but I haven't tuned in myself as it always used to be wall-to-wall urban whenever I heard it.

But that reinforces my point. Galaxy used to kick off Saturday nights from 3pm with the Galaxy Dance Chart with Dave Kelly. Brilliant show - loved the music he played.

then at 5pm I'm sure it was Pacha with Sarah Main? or someone along those lines?

I think Sarah Main was on Friday nights, but I can't remember what time. I think it was 9pm onwards, with Dave Kelly starting the evening beforehand, possibly from 6.

On Saturday nights, I think the line-up before Global wrecked it was:

3-5pm: The Galaxy Dance Chart with Dave Kelly
5-7pm: Andi Durrant
7-9pm: Hed Kandi with David Dunne
9-11pm: Steve Sutherland
11pm-1am: Solid State - Paul Kershaw - First for Trance

Then more specialist stuff through the night network-wide, including an Asian show. I guess it must have been Bhangra and similar stuff.

I thought it was quite apt to slot that in considering the sizeable Asian populations in the areas that Galaxy served on both FM and DAB. If Galaxy had won the East Midlands FM licence (rather than Saga), I think they would have cleaned up in places like Leicester with East-Midlands-only specialist stuff. My sister who's at Uni up there reports they even have rooms dedicated to it in the local clubs.

In areas with a sizeable Asian population it's quite common for Bhangra and similar nights at a club. Not the biggest nights in town but are certainly popular.

When Chrysalis ran the Galaxy RSL in Nottingham they had an Asian music show hosted by Adil Ray. I'm sure they proposed such a show in the application although Adil had left Galaxy by then.

Galaxy did have a large following among young people of Asian origin - if you look on the Ofcom site at the applications for the Manchester licence those proposing contemporary Asian formats found Galaxy rated highly in their research of the target audience.

Isn't Rich Clarke technically "In The Mix" on Friday Nights?

Usually after 8pm he begins to play remixes.

Yer but few and a lot are their half remixes (which I don't understand or see the point of.)

This thread must be heading for part 3 now.

Plus it has a bit of an electronic sound to it. Tbh if you want Coldplay then there's plenty of other stations that play them, dreary rubbish like that has no place on an uptempo station like Capital (should be).

James Barr across the network Saturday night 7-11pm, London Sunday Local Show 8am - midday and then back on Sunday night 11-3pm. Are Capital doing some voicetracking then or will all of these be live?

Hard to tell on Capital but Sunday night could have been voicetracked. I didn't hear any callers put to air like he often does usually.

What makes you think it was staged? Surely DJs always have people in the corner of the studio filming them talking before someone barges in?! lol

Love how scrawny he looks flailing his arms as Jay carries the DJ away

James Barr is always having celebrities 'unexpectedly' burst into his studio. Funny how it always happens when he's talking and strange how Capital don't put better security on their studio, after all, one day instead of somebody from The Wanted storming in, it could be a terrorist!

On the Capital FM website (http://www.capitalfm.com/artists/the...ks-james-barr/) it says:

During The Wanted's takeover of Capitalfm.com , we fooled James Barr into thinking he was recording a section of his show, and convinced Jay from The Wanted to storm the studio and take over the controls.
