Programming a tight CHR station certainly isn't easy. It's actually a lot harder to maintain than stations that aren't as tight. Its certainly not a case of sticking Now 80 on repeat.

Z100's most played song this week so far is Jessie J 'Domino' which has a 60 minute turnaround.

Artist seperation on Lady Gaga is set at 45 minutes. That means you may hear 'Marry the Night' at 1am and 'You and I' at 1.45am for example. Katy Perry averages 90 minutes seperation.

I don't think Capital is as tightly-rotated as people make out. Sure, the A list is repeated 'fairly' often but the rotation is about 2hrs10mins during the day which isn't as tight as other stations I've heard. The rest of the music isn't rotated as tightly at all. I listened to Capital the other saturday from 11am until 5pm while I was doing some work in my house and in the last hour I listened I was still hearing some songs for the first time that day.

The whole point of these ads isn't to get people to instantly switch and think "I won't listen to radio 1 anymore i'll try capital" it's all about bulding awarness and like most advertising works along woth your other marketing and gets into your subconsious.”

This is what saddens me about the whole network rollout - that the London service still seems to take precedence over the rest of the nation, with its own live links and its own version of the TV ad. It feels like the rest of the country's output plays second fiddle.

Capital London has double the audience of the next biggest Capital station (Yorks) and accounts for a third of the entire network's audience.

So of course it takes precedence over the rest of the network. The other stations are small fry in comparison.

It's not the only one with its own version version of the TV ad.
The North East does too, so they've clearly chosen to promote the two new breakfast shows as part of the ads too.
I believe the other regions have a version which has one of the artists referencing the area too.

Well, of course the original Capital FM will always be Parkie's 'baby'.

Not far off actually. Average rotation for 'Sexy and I Know It' (most played this week so far) is 2 hours. It had 10 plays yesterday and 9 on Monday & Tuesday.

...which is a great shame. To have an area the size of Yorkshire treated as an afterthought, not to mention all the other big TSAs, is really sad. They were never an afterthought with Galaxy, which is much missed.

Will a TV viewer REALLY care that much about their "local" capital being mentioned in a TV advert? Of course not.

I dont think it can harm the show creates a bit of a buzz about them. Also both places with the localised ad are replacing long running and v popular bfast shows so may also be to make the new ones look bigger and better than the predecessor.

I doubt its a huge trump card of capitals but it wont have cost any extra and definitely adds to the new shows momentum so why not?

Really? Yes, Yorkshire was the network centre but I'd say Manchester, Birmingham and Newcastle weren't treated any differently as Galaxy than they are as Capital, with the bare minimum of local output.

In fact I'd say Newcastle's being treated LESS as an afterthought now - I'm sure I read somewhere on DS that it now has its own breakfast newsreader which it didn't as Galaxy. And the regional Capitals get bespoke links during the network shows - albeit prerecorded - which they didn't under Galaxy.

During the Chrysalis era, all the Galaxys had 13 hours of local output on weekdays and 7 hours on weekends.

They did actually in the last couple of years.

Is that position solely as newsreader though or a co-host/newsreader position though? (I don't know as I've not heard the show.) If so, these things come and go, depending on how big a breakfast team there is. Previously, 2 Galaxy Manchester breakfast shows had co-host/newsreaders.

Which takes me back to my original point. London's the priority, while the rest of the country's fobbed off with pre-recorded inserts. I understand why it is as it is, but following on from a service like Galaxy, it does seem a shame.

There should be a group action by listeners for Reptitive Strain Injury.

Yep, there's now a reader in Newcastle.

Ironically, the newsreader is Anna Harding from Metro Radio.. she also reads the travel inserts (inline with Capital London). Apparently Matt Bailey is still producing the show aswell.

Rob Howard is a great addition to drivetime sounds really young and fresh (unlike The Bassman).

Are Dave and Lisa doing Saturday Breakfast on London as well or is that just a website error?

Looks as if they're doing Saturday as well. If it was a website error I'm sure it would've been removed by now - its been up for a week.

It is "The Best of Dave and Lisa" on Capital London this morning.

So that won't be a very long show then!

Interesting! I wonder if that idea's going to be eventually rolled out across the network and have a pre-recorded best of breakfast for each local area (e.g the best of Hirsty's Daily dose, etc..) on a Saturday morning. It'll save on paying for local freelance jocks.
