It is a shame, it that is the case with James Barr's Friday and Saturday shows.

They've only just updated his page, to say "James goes in the mix on Friday and Saturday evenings...".

10am-4pm weekdays is 100% pre-recorded, the bulk of the links done before the live London shows, there is options to use "smart networking" as it's called, during the show if needed.

If a big traffic accident happens in Manchester for example, Rich/James will pre-record a quick link about it, the t/o next door will pick it up and insert it into the Manchester logs, generally though the links are recorded around 9am for Rich and lunchtime for Bassman. Doing them all mid-show would not be any more beneficial and would take their attention off their live show (on in London).
The point I was making is that you say 10am-4pm, then say "Rich/James", but James isn't on during that time.

As James had a link which was the same in London as it was on the rest of the stations, it must have been live, or at least recorded whilst a song was on, rather than pre-recorded before his show. He read texts out, and I doubt he would have used made-up or old/re-used texts (because how would he know what people were texting in at 9pm, if it had been recorded at 6pm?)

Well yeah he's too old for 1xtra pretending to be cool with the kids in that pathetic voice, 1xtra is aimed at teens and he sure isnt relevent to teens. Ive got 4 sisters and 2 brothers trust me. but hey that's not being ageist.

What's the amount of siblings you have got to do with trusting you? You an expert then?

Westwood isn't too old for 1Xtra. 1Xtra isn't just aimed at teens.

28? Act like it then.

Peace

This was reference to them being teens and I know they wouldn't think of listening to someone who's 55!

James Bassam is Bassman.. he's on from 1pm.
I know who he is. If that's actually what nobjockey meant, why did he switch between saying 'James' in the first part of his reply, then writing 'The Bassman' later on, especially when there is a second James (who is called James on air) on the network.

I was talking about James, as in James Barr, who is on 7-11pm, not James Bassam (more commonly known as The Bassman on air) who is on between 1-4pm.

It's such a shame if they've been axed, as I really used to enjoy the Friday/Saturday night stuff. (And when he used to have them everynight on his 11-3 show.)

Not totally true. I havent heard "Miami to Ibiza" for a long time.
Also 103.2 (Chillerton Down) sounds less distorted, less trable heavy and quite bassy. Am I imagining it or is it better?

I don't see the post 11 stuff going anywhere anytime soon. At least not Andi Durrant.

No, I meant when James did remixes during the week on the 11-3 slot...

For the second night in the row, James has played Euphoria - Loreen (Eurovision winner). Has any other Capital DJ played it? As it isn't playlisted, sadly.

You're imaging it, they do not change their processors at the transmitters for individual shows.

What is the deal with Capital and Miami 2 Ibiza? They played it a moderate amount when it was popular, and then in like early/mid-2011 they effectively "re-playlisted" it (it wasn't put back on their playlist, but I heard it loads), and it even re-entered the charts as a result!

I just found that very peculiar. And I also found it strange that they never played Greyhound, since that song is perfect for the station.

Also, another thing I found weird with Capital last year was how much they played Show Me Love. I seemed to hear that song like every day. And the remix version wasn't even that big a hit.

I'd put that down to lack of vocals.

I just listened to 95.8 Capital FM in my car, and it sounded horrid!! Distorted and very tinny (and my stereo is very bassy, so to sound tinny is quite an achievement!) and sounded like mp3 with too few bit rates. Is there some reason why the blokes in charge decide to broadcast in this way? Even though I liked the songs they played, it didn't make me want to listen because of the distortion.

Allegedly to draw people in but I don't see how it can do that. Males me want to not listen. I often question wherever I have strong reception because it sounds like its weak.
I really hope it changes eventually.

Well it's now consistently the number 1 commercial station in London so clearly it does.

I thought I was in weak reception because it sounded bad. Oh well. We can only hope they learn.
