I think it's pretty clear they're trying to schedule the specialist hours at the very lowest time of day for listening. 3am meets this idea, but 10pm certainly doesn't.
Besides, the kids arnt going to complain, are they? |

Capital keep on messing with schedules and playing around with programming. I'm moving back to Kiss. For me they are better for programming: Friday Night Kiss, Saturday Night Kiss, The Kiss Bass Mix, Hed Kandi.... And Much more choice over the weekends. I would love to say capital rocks. But it isn't delivering enough.

Mash, sadly, was dropped from the schedule earlier this year.
It is most unfortunate that the former Galaxy network has been reduced to a mainstream, contemporary format indistinguishable from many of Bauer's stations in the north of England to which I thought it was supposed to provide a distinct alternative. Galaxy (previously Kiss!) 105 Yorkshire, Galaxy 102 (also previously Kiss!) and Galaxy 105-106 North East were all set up with a specific remit to provide a specialist dance-oriented service, targeting the under-40s. Two of these stations were regional services, thereby giving them the scale to ensure their viability. I'm sure the Global apologists would argue that these changes were inevitable in the financial climate, but: 1. This financial crisis can't go on forever, but somehow I doubt there will be any kind of reversion to a more specialist format on the former Galaxy stations 2. The former Galaxy stations were all consistently posting healthy RAJARs, and already had a relatively watered down daytime playlist 3. While it is true that there are ample specialist dance music stations on the Internet, I beg to suggest that these are not responsible for any alleged drop in popularity of the former Galaxy specialist shows. - I am someone who used to listen to UK commercial radio quite a bit, but have felt increasing alienated by the format changes and the daytime playlists on what is now Capital and Kiss. - I only went over to the Internet after dispairing of what was available to me on FM here in the UK. - I'd come back to Capital / Kiss if I liked what was there I am irritated by the scheduling of what little specialist output that remains on Capital into graveyard slots. Ofcom really should have stipulations that a certain proportion of it should be available before 10pm. The Galaxy weekend specilist output for the evening, just over 4 years ago, was kicking off from 3pm on Saturdays. It is absurd that these same stations now don't have any specialist output before midnight, any day of the week. |

Why did they have to start messing! I'm 16 and loved listening to all the remixes and now Capital have decided to wreck everything. Fingers crossed it might change in the future or they realise they are missing out on competition.

I wouldn't of cared if Global instead, rebranded Choice to Galaxy and re-directed the shows from leeds to london. Capital is a London station! Since the rebrand, the station has lost its charecter. The kids may as well go find their Justin Bieber crap on Youtube! Galaxy introduced me into Real House music, Stuff from Hed Kandi to Steve Sutherland. Andi Durrant's House show & Special new year mixtapes which ran from 7pm non stop till the following morning. They said Capital was a competition against Radio 1. Its no where near as good as The Hits Radio for crying out loud! Galaxy was a nice worthy compeditor against Radio 1 & Kiss FM on the weekends. just hope that the GMG deal falls through, and Bauer brings Kiss FM to Scotland. |

There is no chance of Global offloading Capital Scotland. If something in Glasgow has to go for compliance it will be Smooth.
Ideally was hinting Real XS frequency. |

No specialist programming on Sundays so they will be providing 2 hours less of specialist programming.

Complain to OFCOM and say that Global are changing there schedule too much and more and more specialist programming is being removed.
They probably won't do anything but at least it might get a mention in their end of year report. Maybe. |

Mon-Fri Mixtape = 5hrs James Barr 8-12pm Saturday show = 4hrs (9 hours) Andi Durrant's 12-3am show = 3hrs (12 hours total) [Edit, Mixtape is Monday-Saturday, so thats 6, making it 13 hours.] |

The new Capital schedule is just nonsense. Capital is "the hit music station", so who the hell needs some mixed dance music on Wednesday, at 3 a.m.? Random. It's like Newsbeat on Radio 1, who needs 15 minutes of serious news twice-a-day on station for 15 year-olds? If they need 12 hours-a-week specialist music, they could just put someone (doesn't matter who really) on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. to play some pop dance tunes (probably 80% of Capital's current playlist) and then James Barr from 10 p.m. to do his "in the mix" show. And that's all, they could put "hit music" from 1 a.m. again.

So what's James Barr going to do then?
Someone said Pandora will be on 8-12pm on Friday's. Although schedule doesn't say that at the moment, maybe She will be the In The Mix instead. Could make more sense having 8pm Friday through to 4am Saturday as specalist. |

My bet is that James won't go back in the mix, I would be surprised if he does.
His page said "Monday to Thursday from 7pm and Saturdays from 8pm" What happened to Friday? The schedule is saying he is on Friday yet his page said he's not. REALLY CONFUSED!!

Wouldn't it make sense for Andi to have the slot that will does from 10-1am? The current structure that Andi has on his show would fit well into place! Big room stuff in the first hour, club chart in the second, third would be underground/guset mix and club classics.
I don't understand why Mash & Sacha went, they only started their shows 4 months after the new capital rebrand. Whoever is in charge of the programming schedule, should've made and stayed with a schedule that would've worked for the foreseeable future. 3 or 4 years. Why didn't they get Steve sutherland to do the Urban mixtape show? |

Still find it hard to classify the 'mix tape' as a specialist program. It's pretty much a show without a presenter, playing pop Rnb from 12+ months ago. Ofcom should be informed!..

Why didn't they get Steve sutherland to do the Urban mixtape show? Mash and Sacha went because it's cheaper without them and to automate a Mixtape over several days. Steve Sutherland just wouldn't fit into Capital's teenybopper target audience. Edit: New weekend overnights: 12am Andi Durrant 3am Christian Williams 5am Mixtape 6-8am Emily Segal This would be easier to understand: 12am Andi Durrant 3am Mixtape (in-line with weekdays) 4-8am Emily Segal |
