But yes I understand she is but I never heard it announced.
I just turned Capital on and it was a remix. Do they constantly toggle the format?

Friday and Saturday nights are now mix shows once again.

Capital sounds great in the mix and I hope that it doesn't disappear again in 3 months. I think it's no co-incidence that Capital's PD has left and the deputy PD is now in charge...might explain the sudden changes.

But would he axe the Capital Mixtape and bring more 'attitude' to the schedule, in terms of replacing the 'tight play-listed night time shows' and have more Andi Durrant like spots? Even if it was done in the style of Kiss (midnight-2/3am)?

Well done Capital. I'm absolutely loving James Barr's show tonight. Being in the mix and playing proper dance tunes, some of which wouldn't be on the playlist usually, is a fantastic idea and it's sounding great. It has more of a Saturday night feel whereas it was impossible to differentiate his previous Saturday night shows from his weekday ones.

Why can't Capital's MHEG on Freeview have "now playing"?

Because all of his remixes are mixed into one single track. They don't have an 'auto-tag facility' like Radio One has online. big ups to the new program director for switching up the weekend schedule, now reinstate Sacha and Mash on weekends please.

Also, they play the same 5 songs in a row. Why would they?

They don't have it at all. Not even during daytime.

What let's it down is terrible processing on FM and terrible bitrate on DAB. 112kbps, please make it 128 again. There's room now that Breeze and Traffic are gone.

If she is from Choice, like Pandora, she wont be bringing any Urban to the show, which I think is where Global is going wrong, surely they should allow these two (if that's the case) to select a few Urban Tracks. As far as I was aware Urban is specialist, rhythmic music.”

They won't, because they're scared that playing a hip hop song will scare away listeners,

Capital FM are going to be in an awkward situation in a couple of months when Thrift Shop is huge. They'll HAVE to play that song, even though it's hip hop.

Andi's Saturday night show was repeated last night from last weekends:

James: "Keep it capital, Andi has got a guest session from Thomas Gold......"

Andi: "Welcome to 3 hours of the worlds best electronic music, Tonight we have guest session from Chicane"

Spot the mistake

He did have Thomas Gold in session last night at around half 1 in the morning. So may well have been a new show

It may be a good idea for programmers and Andi Durrant to communicate as James Barr played Drinking from the Bottle by Calvin Harris at 11.54ish and Andi played a remixed version at 00.04ish. Not the first time it's happened.

Drinking From the Bottle will be played by Capital every few hours for the next 6 months. They may as well get the listeners used to it now.

That song is as Capital-friendly as it can possibly get. But I know if Calvin releases Here 2 China as his next single, Capital will give it much less airplay (if any at all).

James knew Andi wasn't going to play it till at least an hour later after spinning Russ Chime's "Turn Me Out" (outstanding house track!) Someone scheduled in last week's part 1 by mistake, this is why I'd prefer having the smart networking thing in place like the Bauer stations have. Andi used to do his shows live (Galaxy era). But as he lives in Yorkshire, he can only prerecord his shows

Yorkshire has the facilities (and I think all global sites do) to host network programmes. No reason as to why they can't do it from Leeds. Not immediately obvious at least.

Is Capital playing uncensored version of Scream and Shout by Will.I.Am and Britney Spears? I think I heard "Will.I.Am and Britney bitch" in that song for a few times now.

No, it was pretty much like that last year. James Barr will most likely be in the mix as he was last year on New Years Eve.
