I'm finding the trailer booking very annoying. The graphic is nearer the centre of the screen than it is the right hand edge (what a stupid place to put it!) and on Channel 4 it stays on screen for several minutes after the trailer has disappeared and thus the booking graphic intrudes on real programs I'm trying to watch. I'm assuming this is due to the data sent by the broadcaster since the trailer bookings disappear very promptly on BBC channels.

So, is there an option buried in the depth of the menus to disable trailer booking? I find the feature itself completely pointless as I'm perfectly capable of recording things from the EPG. I just want to get rid of this annoying screen clutter.

No, you cannot turn it off as far as I know. And it should only appear over a trailer, so if it also stays for a time over programmes, then complain to the broadcaster (as it is they who are not ensuring that it gets switched off correctly).

But you can delete it on each occasion by pressing the EXIT button. No so neat but at least one does not have to put up with it spoiling a programme.

As mentioned, the problem appears to only be with Channel Four as it appears and disappears just fine when viewing the BBC channels.

It should not be spoiling any programme as the broadcaster should only employ it for trailers and turn it off hen the trailer has ended. If this is not happening, then complain to the broadcaster concerned (most likely Channel 4 as I have always seen it disappear correctly on BBC trailers)

And do you honestly believe there is even the slightest chance Channel 4 will take any notice? They'll say something like "people appreciate the extra time to get the remote and press the button, this is intended to make life easier" in the same way that DOGs "make it easier to know what channel you are on". All rubbish of course, but they have a corporate agenda and don't care about viewers.

It wouldn't do any harm to have a menu option to disable the functionality, just like I wouldn't do any harm to disable all MHEG applications. I'm not sure if the Humax boxes offer the latter, but I have seen it on other boxes. It doesn't get rid of onscreen channel logos because these are part of the video stream, but it does get rid of the 'press red' graphics that some people don't like.

Yes the "Press Red" annoys me too, but it tends to only happen during the news.

I'm increasingly recording things and then watching them 5 to 10 minutes behind because when you do that none of the MHEG rubbish intrudes on the program. And it lets me skip the adverts on ITV/C4 etc.

If you don't try, you will never know. And if enough annoyed C4 viewers raise it as an issue, there is even more chance that they will act.


So you are happy to prejudge the answer to a complaint that you can't be bothered to make. That's fine. But if it was me. and it annoyed me as it annoys you, I would at least try.
