Whats Blackberry's like for music?

I have had a few phones in my time but never once tried a Blackberry, I am wondering what the music side of things is like on them? Do they have a decent music player? Is it easy enough to put songs on them?

Music-wise I think Windows Phone 7 is the best with its integration with the excellent Zune player and possibility of having Zune Pass too. iPhone and iTunes is second best.

Android is quite easy because it is drag and drop. You can transfer music by plugging your blackberry into your PC but it's probably the least appealing platform for music.

I've got the Bold 9780 and I find the music player quite acceptable. Might not be the best out there on a mobile phone, but it certainly isn't bad at all.

As for putting music on it - obviously best to have a memory card of course, but you don't even have to have the Blackberry Software installed on your pc (I was previously told this was a "must" otherwise the pc won't recognise the phone but it's certainly not proved to be the case!). Once you've connected the phone to the pc via USB, click on the phones display the option for "USB Drive"...

Then you can simply open up the music folder and drag and drop - simple as that.

BB phones are ok for music but the best music player I have ever had was the WIN AMP app downladed free on my old Samsung Galaxy running Android 2.1 - it really was that good!

best music player on a phone? easy. it is found on the iphone 4

still want a blackberry? then take chances with it. i've just tried and tested 6 different blackberry 9780. all 6 had different defects that meant none of the 6 were worthy of keeping. all 6 went back to the reatilers involved. current qc coming out of the 3 blackberry plants (mexico / hungary / canada) is rubbish.

Well......I've obviously got a decent 9780 as have loads of people I know, so perhaps this was just a faulty batch or something?

What probblems did you experience with these handsets?

where do i start?!

one of them had this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3PYOJ6Q3Kw though not quite as severe, still noticeable on one of my units

another the casing running down the left hand front side was a little loose. the right hand side not at all.
varying screen contrasts/keyboard backlights - some were a duller yellowish.white. some were a sharper blueish white.
one had light leaks from the side of the keyboards.
varying degrees of screen ripple when the 4 main keys (below the screen) were pressed.
trackpad - some gave hard 'clicks' some much softer. some felt tighter than others when moving around
all 6 i tried had different manufacturing dates ranging from nov last year to jan this year. you'll find users over on crackberry.com saying get a unit 'made in canada' if you can with 'made in hungary' 2nd choice and 'made in mexico' 3rd. all mine were 'made in hungary'. good luck getting hold of a 'made in canada' unit here in the uk.

i paid £380 simfree on avg for a 9780 and £499 for an iphone 4 simfree. just for the build quality alone, i'd rather pay the extra £120

Blackberry is by no means a music device.

If you want a music phone look elsewhere.
