Saturday saw the Daily Mirror print the last ever Scorer, effectively rendering the Roy of the Rovers style football comic strip extinct. Replacing it in today's paper was a new strip called Simon's Cat, and the return of the long-running Garth.

Glad to see Garth back, sorry to see Scorer go. I guess reprints are cheaper than commissioning new strips...
