I don't know what it is but although, academically, I can see that he is an excellent skater, with the exception of the movie theme week, I have never been remotely moved or interested by his performance.

I can see why he is often at the top of the leader board and, at the same time, I feel no compulsion to vote for him and would have no problem with him being eliminated

It's very strange

Regards

I completely agree with you.

I can't see any personality in Sam's skating. If you muted the music you would still have an idea of what Laura, or Chloe were skating to. Sam for me gives the same performance every week, I always find myself watching Brianne, and I don't do that with any other couple.

When they played the little clip of Kieron and Brianne from last year on Sunday I noticed how much more of a partnership they looked.

I think he definitely was annoyed, in the VT before he skated he said something along the lines of wanting to put a gap between him and the next person below him so not only was he expecting to be top, but by a few marks.

I really don't see anything wrong with saying you would like to be better than (or was it 'as good as'?) Chris Fountain and Ray Quinn. What's wrong with aiming high? It's quite different from saying 'I am better than Chirs F and Ray Q.'

His face was a picture on Sunday! He was expecting 10's because of the headbanger.

The problem with Sam is that his best week was week 1. He peaked too soon and hasn't improved. He's a really good skater, but he's a soloist which brings timing issues between him and Brianne. It's a shame that personal relationship have come into it, but the fact that his fauxmance was exposed didn't do him any favours and so is losing public support.

Anyone notice on This Morning last week when Hayley was explaining the pictures of Sam exposing the fauxmance, and after she went off set, her mic was still on and she said "I just said they were together but now they are not now..." as if to say 'I'm trying to make Sam look good here.' But how can you say you're madly in love, met each others parents and then a couple of days later not be together anymore?? He's dug himself a hole and now he can't get out of it.

Sam just needs to focus on the skating and shrug off the 'I'm invincible' attitude

Thanks, Patti-Ann. If those were his exact words, I see nothing wrong with that.

Thanks for that Patti-Ann.

But I'm sure I actually heard him say it, possibly on his first VT, and the way he said it made him sound very cocky.

I think that he probably made those comments too soon. The week one VT made it look like he made those comments before he even met Brianne, when he met Trovil and Dean for the first time.

Wrong week to introduce the headbanger considering they were focused on 3 different things. Should have kept to what they were looking for instead oftrying to show off and almost end up with her brains on the ice. Maybe if it was next week he would have got a 9.5/10 for that but as they were looking for the steps and jumps and spins they werent really impressed with the headbanger and it wasnt marked as normal...also it was sloppy and a little soon and they doneed to workon syncing more, he seems to rush ahead. Too complacent and cocky. Still good though. just needs to pull the riegns in a bit and tighten it up.

to my mind hes just a big lump who can haul himself about the ice. he pays no mind to his partner or even the audience- i think hes only about the panel. and hes nowt compared to ray quinn or chris fountain.

Same - I dont feel his skating has any personality to it whatsoever

I also dont think he has much of a connection with Brianne - was it Robin who mentioned this also??

Ray is smoother, more graceful and a better dancer than Sam, Chris is more entertaining

It will be interesting when the voting percentages come out to see if Sam lost any support as the weeks went on

If Rob and Chloe can improve their game and up their scores he'll have even less 'breathing space'

Ray had a very good relationship with Maria, I thought, and that came over in every performance they did. For me he was the best they've ever had on DOI.

Sam is good but doesn't seem to be aware enough of Brianne. He skates too much for himself. I liked him a lot at the start and I still think he's very talented but now I prefer Laura as a performer. I thought the headbanger was a total mistake (and not necessarily his idea) but I really don't like it as a move anyway.

I suppose I will be shot down in flames for saying this, but he bores me to tears when he skates and yet Laura is a sheer delight to watch. He doesn't seem to have any connection with his partner whatsoever.

I feel that way about him as well!

Well, the 'fauxmance' hasn't really bothered me that much because I like watching him skate. So far, Flash Bang Whallop has been my favourite performance of the series. I thought it was fun to watch, his facial expressions were very entertaining and the skating was good! Let's see how he does today, maybe him and Brianne will produce a routine that everyone loves!

That said, I really dislike his attitude. I find him arrogant and also ignorant of Brianne's prescence. Like Robin said, there is hardly any connection between them and it looks more like two seperate skaters rather than a partnership. Hopefully he can seriously work on this, but I don't think their 'fauxmance' helped them one bit with the voting public. I don't vote myself btw. If I did, my vote would go to Vanilla and Katie because I really like them both

PS: I loved Brianne last year with Kieron (but maybe because I fancied Kieron a bit TOO much )

That was a better partnership than with Sam I think

Trouble is Brianne looks about 20 years older than both Kieron and Sam.

Not mad keen on him, in comparison with what some of the others have to offer, so agree with most of the comments in this thread.

You'd have been more likely to be shot down in flames if you'd said you really liked Sam and wanted him to win.
