Ask away. It`s always a pleasure meeting new PYC fans, and I love reading facts about the show - especially things that happened before I became a viewer.

Yes, Garry has always been a "bachgen drwg" (bad boy). Wavlovr has given a great synopsis of the Monk family. I think Britt is the eldest (at least Garry is the youngest) and she's always very protective of him. She *has* been known to yell at him too though. He was dating Beca (ex-girlfriend of a bad guy) and Britt really tore into him for putting everyone in danger by letting her hide out in the flat.

I have a soft spot for Garry too. He has some very clear cut (and totally weird) "morals". For instance, when he discovered Hwyel had forged Ffion's name to get a second mortage to buy into the betting shop Garry made him confess all and forced him out. This was the same time Garry was actively engaged in selling stolen cars.

Garry had a relationship with Sheryl and hit her (I wasn't watching so maybe someone else can clarify the details). She aborted his child and it took a long, long time for them to be civil. Ever since Gwern was born, however, Garry seems to be softening a little. One of my favorite scenes was when Gwenyth let Garry take Gwern for the first time and he didn't know what to do. Sheryl saw this and showed him how to change Gwern's diaper and look after him. Considering their history, it was a very touching moment.

When Yvonne first came to town and showed an interest in Gwenyth, Garry was none too pleased. He stole their passports at one point and, when Yvonne decided to "go traveling" alone he pretended to give her a ride as a favor only to threaten her at the airport.

Garry also saved Ffion's life when she was going to jump off the railroad bridge. This gallant action was somewhat diminished when, several months later, he tried to throw her off the very same bridge!

So... yeah... Garry is complicated!

I'm an ex-Corrie fan. Pobol is the only soap I watch these days.

I've been watching for a little over two years and Mark and Debs pre-date me. Debbie has three children, Vicky (never hear much about her), the ever-dishy Liam and Ricky who is her only child with Mark. Mark and Debs are divorced even though they live together. Debbie will do anything for money and she's not always very bright. A couple of years back she was conned into hiding drugs in Ricky's luggage when they went to Spain. She testified against the drug ring and was terrified of retribution. Mark stood by her and she ended up getting probation.

Mark ended up marrying Dani a couple of years back. It was just to con a contest and, of course, they got caught. But he and Dani have remained good friends.

Sioned had a reputation for bullying girls in school. Poor Lois was a victim and she even ran away. Sioned was looking after Ricky and she started bullying him too (that story never really made a lot of sense). Anyway... Debs found out and that's the root of their mutual hatred. Debbie even conspired to have dog Brandi's birthday party on the same night as Sioned's 18th super-posh do. Of course, everyone went to Brandi's party!

Like Corrie's Jack and Vera, Mark and Debs can be the butt of a lot of jokes but, also like the Duckworth's their serious stories can be really interesting and powerful

Did you ever watch it when Macs was on drugs? How long ago was that? Was it when Rhys Bidder was playing him or Iwan Rheon?

Basilbird you rock! Thanks so much for all the info on Garry.

He's bad but I do notice he seems to have a soft spot for kids.

I don't think he believes Dani set the fire either. He said something like you don't believe I set the fire to kill you to Dani the other night. He wouldn't have said that if he really thought Dani set the fire.

So you don't think Garry set the fire or hired someone to? I'm not sure about that.

Sez_babe glad you love the Macs storyline too. You should watch Scott's entire storyline on Anthony's channel since you love the Macs stuff so much. Anthony has posted pretty much everything you need to know about Scott and his relationship with Iolo, Macs and Sioned.

There is some pretty interesting discussion about Scott's sexuality there as well. It would be interesting to know what you think once you watch it.

Just watched Thursdays. Once again I find my self broken up over Sion White. I so want things to go better for the Whites.

The relationship Sion and Iolo have is so touching. Its not a perfect relationship but more real for it.

I will say it again Iolo needs his own storyline. The actor Dyfan Rees is so great in these emotional storylines. He can really handle dramatic story of his own.

I agree! Jeremi Cochram has been so brilliant playing Sion. I've always liked him, (even when Sion was a bit full of himself) but this storyline is amazing. The writers just keep writing fantastic stuff! Do you think Sion really will "get religion"? Really touching when he told Iolo he never "asked for help" when Gwen was sick.

Iolo definitely needs a new storyline. I don't even care if it's another relationship or not. just something other than fixing leaky taps and avoiding Colin! But these things come in phases. It's just a matter of time.

Not what you were asking for but here's a video of the making of the fire scene:
http://vimeopro.com/robindr/pobol-y-...hop-fire-shoot

I can't seem to find the actual fire scenes. Does anyone know exactly what day it was?

There don't seem to be many old folks at all in Cwmderi. i keep hoping for a fella' to turn up for Anti Marion but no luck yet. There's Gwynfor, of course, but I wouldn't describe him as "elderly".

I agree Jeremi Cochram is wonderful playing Sion. He has really been the heart of the show lately. I identify the most with Sion and the Whites.

I don't know if the religion thing will last, but it does seem natural after everything that Sion would look for help.

I would agree that Iolo should have a new relationship. I also would like to see like to see Iolo in a dramatic realistic story. After seeing Dyfan Rees in Sion and Mac's stories, its clear he is best at the dramatic stuff.

Now that Ffion is going to have a big story, I would like a bit of background on her. I have heard that she has a very complicated relationship history. She was married to a serial killer at one point I think. Please explain.

I am not sure I like her, but I have only seen her drunk.

I am a bit confused
In the cafe, there is a christmas decoration on the door.
It is still the middle of November.
Do they have episodes where the characters celebrate seasonal celebrations like Christmas, Bank holidays, Easter etc

There were a lot of elderly people at the very beginning as many scenes were set in an old people's home. Fond memories of the wonderful Harri Parri and Magi'r Post and Mr Tushingham.

Thanks. I've watched bits of it - will have to watch more.

Poor Sion has had such a bad year - Huw and the baby, Macs' rape and now Britt

I missed the "Nadolig Llawen" decoration. There are lots of holidays that make it on the show.

Last year Gwyneth and Yvonne got married on Christmas and Dai often plays Santa (Sion Corn) though one year Eifion did with Cadno as his elf! Guy Fawkes night played a big part a couple of years back. Sion gave Britt an eternity ring on St Dwynwen's day (January 25th - sort of the Welsh St. Valentine). They usually do something at the Eisteddfod in August (though they didn't this year). And Meic (in happier times) was seen on the telly in a pub with a bra on his head after a major Football match!

Ahhh... that would be Owen, the "Sinister Minister"! Again, before I was watching but as I understand it, he killed a bunch a prostitutes (well.. as many as he could find in mid-Wales) and then went into the forest and hanged himself.

Shortly before this happened, he and Ffion asked Britt to be a surrogate mother for them since Ffion can't have children. Little Aaron is the result.

Ffion was also married to Hwyel, had an affair with Cai (Mac's uncle on his mother's side) and, when none of that worked out, was saved from a suicide attempt by our own resident hero, Garry Monk.

Garry had just bought Ieuan Griffiths big fancy house (sold at a loss by his ex-wife, Hazel). He and Ffion lived happily there for about fifteen minutes before the heddlu (police) came to cart Garry away. Actually, it was Yvonne's boss, Clive "Exposition" not the sexy D.I. Williams who broke up the love nest.

Ffion and Iolo were best friends for a short while. This was around the time of Iolo's ill fated affair with Sion's boss, Alun (who was married). I was disappointed that Iolo didn't take more of an interest when Ffion started drinking.

It was Ffion who lived in the flat about the salon and she asked Sheryl to move in with her when she could no longer stand living with Kevin (they had broken up but still lived together - awkward!). I always thought Sheryl had some nerve to throw Ffion out even if she was drinking.

There were times I didn't like Ffion at all but I have to say that actress Bethan Ellis Owen is really good all the time!
