Orange 3G signal

Is anyone having problems with Orange 3G signal on Blackberry Bold 9700?

The actual mobile signal for calls is fine virtually all of the time but I have been noticing recently that around the 5.30pm mark the signal goes and it really struggles to get the 3G signal back. I get home, it hooks up to my wifi and all seems fine again.

It is really annoying and not what I have come to expect from either Orange OR Blackberry.

Anyone having similar problems?
Thanks

I have been with Orange for well over 10 years and cannot fault them at all until now.
Had the 9700 for just about a year also and not had problems like this.

Just wondered if anyone has similar problems

Had friends moved from Orange to O2 when iPhone first came out, as soon as Orange got the iPhone, they moved back..

There signal is so dire. I cant get signal, constant dropping calls if walking with phone through a city centre. Never had that problem til i went on orange.

and the customer service is diabolical.

Same. Just moved to Orange from O2 and its the worst phone decision Ive ever made. I work in the middle of Manchester, yet when I leave work every night, I have to drive in excess of 10 miles till Im almost home, until I get a data connection. Absolutely appaling, and I just wish I wasnt stuck in a 2 year contract with them as they are abysmal. Im just hoping the T-mobile merger will improve things eventually.

Hi craigdawes

From your profile I understand you're in Stockport. It looks like there are two transmitters about a mile from Stockport which are currently degraded. We expect one of these to be back to full capacity by 4 March 2011 and the other by 10 March 2011.

AndyB1126, if you can narrow down the area in which you're experiencing signal problems, I'd be happy to have a look for you. If you wish us to check a specific postcode area, please contact us by Private Message on Facebook or Twitter, as we advise against posting private information via a public forum.

I hope this helps.

You could say the same about any network in different parts of the UK. Doesn't make the network "pants" though.

FWIW, I'm in the middle of a battle with O2 about signal quality (not the strength of the signal, but the quality of the calls). O2 say there is no problem, even though I have proof otherwise. Exec office has now offered me an incentive to just leave without even offering to help resolve the issue. Their exec office also take over a week to reply, and generally don't care.

In my opinion, O2 is the pits.

At least they have given a date, rather than a fake promise of "It'll be back to full capacity tomorrow Sir".... Honesty is the best policy, and something I admire.

Well Orange have excelled themselves. I ran a couple of speed tests yesterday and reached the mighty speed of 3kbps. To be fair Orange have contacted me quite a few times to run tests but the official line (which we have all heard before) is DUE TO THE TECHNICAL COMPLEXITY OF THE PROBLEM THERE IS NO TIME SCALE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I was thinking of getting a IPad with Orange, no chance at the moment. I need a decent service and sorry Orange cant provide that.

Heads up old bill2,

iPad sim's and internet dongles use an APN which actually now goes via T-Mobiles core network... so there should be no speed problems on the orangedata and consumerbroadband APN's

(Don't try configuring these APN's manually unless you have a dongle or iPad sim as they won't be configured to access the APN's)
