PVR80 just died

Hi,

My faithful PVR80 upgraded with a 160GB disk and the twin record software just died a few hours ago.

When switching it on, nearly every dispay led on the front lit up and stayed on. Now nothing.

I've checked the fuse, and it is fine. Cannot find any internal fuses.

I've seen the other thread (quite old) regarding another corpse and will be looking with my uncle tomorrow for blown components. He is more of an electronics person than I am.

I'd like opinions please as whether to try and fix it as I am currently out of work, or bite the bullet and get a new model with the extra features that have come out in the last 5 years.

If that is the case, recommendations would be grateful.
If possible I'd like one that can be upgraded with bigger disk and possibly firmware as the old PVR80 allowed.

It would happen as well when I have a pile of recordings yet to view.

TIA
