I loved Paul in the auditions .. loved his Blackbird duet so was really looking forward to seeing him on the show but all his performances left me a bit disappointed and agree that his return with the rest of the "bootees" was awful

seems a really likeable guy though so I hope if he gets signed he can reproduce whatever it was that made me like him before the live shows

i guess what im saying is being ignored paul said in his exit interviews that he wishes that he had not taken notice of the people advising with song choice etc and stood up for himself and done what he was comfortable with. He also nearly had to withdraw cos his voice was shot before he even began but he carried on anyway! You could tell he was so hoarse towards his later performances and even more so in his exit performances. Nodes on your vocal chords are not a minor thing, and i applaud him for trying even though he didnt reach the heights of his pre idol stuff

please go and listen to his grand magnolias stuff for the real paul

He should have stood up for himself then. I know they are not being given as much freedom with song choices this year (a ploy to try to sabotage the threats to the chosen one if I ever heard one ) but he's not a child and in fact I think he may have even been the eldest of the finalists.

He should have withdrawn if his problems were that serious. No amount of coverage and publicity is worth that much risk of permanent damage to your livelihood.

No, they're not, hence the point in my previous paragraph.

i actually agree with you, i think this really shows tbh that paul didnt take the competition is seriously as he could have done. He often tweeted about writing songs rather than rehearsing i remmeber being slightly miffed with him over this!! lol i think he got further than he ever expected to do, even wanted to do. And yeah, i just hope that he hasnt done any permanent damage to his voice, AI certainly isnt worth it when he had a good band and decent original stuff out there anyway
