on the off chance that anyone remembers the halcyon days of ZTT in the eighties, there's a very interesting and candid interview with Paul Morley about just how arse everything had gotten at the label by the time Propaganda left:

Morley interview

also, amazingly, they're still putting out never released stuff, such as the never release Instinct single, Sleepwalking, which is on the new compilation that includes quite a few never released (or never released on CD) stuff, the art of the 12":

ZTT compilation.

and Claudia Brucken has a new album out with stuff from all her projects, including four new songs.

all of which sounds like ad for ZTT, but thought its the sort of thing some might be interested, but not really hear about!

Loved the album A secret wish....Dr Mabuse was just as superb as Duel....the 2nd album was not that great, sadly....

Never really much of a fan of Propaganda but Dr. Mabuse was quite good.

As for the other ZTT stuff the new 12" compilation looks good. The Sex Mix of Relax is great. I've still got a 12" version of Close To the Edit kicking around somewhere and I think the Art of Noise set the benchmark for sampling techniques which were much copied after their first album.

A heads-up for fans of the wonderful Claudia Brucken. She’s on R2 tonight at 11pm, unfortunately it’s with Jools Holland but you can’t have everything can you? They’ll be doing a version of Duel together so here’s hoping it’s not a bloody boogie-woogie one!

I met her at a record-signing in London some years back and she is as lovely, friendly and delightful in person as she is slightly scary and teutonic on record!

Claudia Is on Radcliffe (boo!) and Maconie tomorrow on 6Music talking about her album of covers. I’ve not heard it yet but it’s not an artistic choice that fills me with great anticipation.
