35.Eddie Windass
9.64% (Round 1)

At 35 is Eddie Windass. Eddie missed out on the top 30 by the skin of his teeth and I think there was 1 vote between him and 5th place in his original heat. In 2010 Eddie has been helping deal with son Gary and his army problems as well as trying to adopt. In 2011 his and Anna's adoption plea was accepted, and they are currently trying to bond with possible future daughter Faye.

34.Ken Barlow

Next up is Coronation's street longest living resident Ken Barlow. Appearing since episode 1, Ken is probably a Corrie legend, but his recent boring nature means he finishes outside the top 30. In 2010 we saw him meet up with long lost son Lawrence, Help son Peter get over his alcoholism, witness a tram crashing into the street and generally got on with his life with wife Deirdre. In 2011 he has faced family troubles, with adoptive daughter Tracy coming back causing trouble, and the breakdown of son Peter's wedding to Leanne Barlow.

33.Maria Connor
10.00% (Round 1)

Ranking at 33 is Maria Connor, returning to Weatherfield in late 2010 her time has been pretty quiet compared to the Tony, Liam and Carla drama before. She has returned to working at Audrey's salon, and has started a new relationship with Chris Gray, despite his jealousy of ex wife Cheryl and her new boyfriend Lloyd. I do like Maria, but she hasn't been that active so far since she came back.

32.Liz McDonald
10.13% (Round 1)

At 32 is Liz McDonald, think she would have ranked higher but she hasn't been seen in aaaaaages. Appeared since the 80s, in 2010 we've seen Liz work as landlady of the rovers and find love again, this time with evil builder Owen Armstrong. However after hearing that Owen called for ex husband Jim to be beaten up, Liz left to stay in spain leaving son Steve to tell Owen there relationship is over. Liz has not yet appeared in 2011

31.Anna Windass
11.41% (Round 1)

Despite getting a great percentage, Anna missed out on the top 30 by the skin of her teeth. Anna has shared storylines with Steve which have included helping son Gary getting over his army troubles and trying to bond with soon to be adopted daughter Faye.

30.Claudia Colby

Getting in the top 30 by the skin of her teeth, Claudia appears next with quite a low percentage for the top 30. Claudia first appeared right at the end of 2010, on new years eve causing trouble for friend Audrey Roberts. The two have stayed friends, despite there rival salons and in 2011 they have shared many scenes as well as shared the same man!

29.Emily Bishop

At 29 is the long standing pillar off the street Emily Bishop. Emily has kept more quiet in 2010 and 2011, seen often with Norris and Rita. But her good nature means she is very popular on the street. 2010 saw her get on with her life on the street, and also get a blast from the past when she discovered a letter from Ken Barlow's old lover Susan Cunningham who also had given birth to Ken's child, unknown to him. In 2011 she hasn't been seen much so far, but she has been seen in the background of scenes and still continuing her life on the street

28.Sunita Alahan
12.38% (Round 1)

Ranking at 28 is Sunita Alahan. 2010 saw Sunita get back together with ex husband and father of her children Dev Alahan. 2010 was also a hard year for Sunita, after her children were taken into care after son Aadi fell unconscious after Simon Barlow pushed him in a game. Sunita and Dev were accused of abusing the twins but were later found innocent and Aadia and Asha soon came back to Sunita and Dev. Sunita nearly died at the end of 2010 after the disastrous tram crash after she was trapped under rubble, however she soon made a full recovery. 2011 has seen Sunita and Dev face money problems, only to find out that friend Steve McDonald was the one who stole from them.

I love the characters Carla, Steve, Becky and Tina and I hope one of them wins. Or Graheme.

Does anyone know if the characters Carla and Steve have ever interacted or spoken? I don't think they have - have they ever had anything to do with each other?

27.Tyrone Dobbs

Next to rank in the top half is Tyrone Dobbs. Tyrone thought 2010 was going perfect for him, he thought he had a good relationship with Molly Dobbs, he thought he had just become a dad for the first time, and he had a good relationship with Jack Duckworth, who was a father figure to him. However in late 2010 this all came crashing down on him, Jack passed away, he found out Molly had been having an affair with his best friend Kevin and the baby was Kevin's not his, and his wife Molly died in the tram crash. 2011 has seen Tyrone cope with loneliness and the change in his life

26.Betty Williams

At 26 is legendary barmaid Betty Williams, Betty is a corrie legend having appeared since 1969, but now she is more of a background recurring character I'm not suprised she's not higher. 2010 saw Betty celebrate her 90th birthday, and continue to be the recurring popular barmaid. She has made a few appearances in 2011 but hasn't had any storylines.

25.Graeme Proctor
13.63% (Round 2)

At 25 we have loveable Graeme Proctor. Graeme had a lucky year in 2010, after helping Tina McIntyre get over her dad's death Tina started a relationship with Graeme. But due to this, he had some trouble with best friend David Platt- Tina's ex boyfriend. Towards the end of 2010, Graeme coped with the death of friend and work colleague Ashley Peacock after the tram crash. In 2011 Graeme has continued his friendship with Tina and met her old friend Xin.

I love Betty

Yes they have. Besides from taking orders an small talk in re rovers they interacted when Michelle dated Steve but then they got rocky. Carla was obviously team Michelle and the pair interrogated Steve in the pub to try and crack him. They also interacted when Steve and Michelle went round to Tony and Carlas for supper.

I love how Ali and Simon dated in real life, before Ali was in Corrie! Small world!

24. Simon Barlow
13.71% (Round 2)

At 24 is little Simon Barlow, with the highest ranking out of all the kids, and the only one not in the bottom 10! 2010 has been a busy year for Curly Simon, after his grandad George took him too live with him Simon ran away as he wanted to live with Peter and Leanne. He has also been the center of Peter and Leanne's drama, Accidently knocked Aadi Alahan out, and almost lost his dad after the tram crash disaster. In 2011 Simon almost had to cope with the breakdown of his dads marriage to Leanne, but they are back together and Simon is currently on honeymoon with them.

23.Tina McIntyre
14.03% (Round 2)

As we get futher into our countdown, Tina appears. Tina had a hard start to 2010 after coping with the death of her father and an insurance scam gone wrong, but later found love with Graeme Proctor, much to the dismay of ex boyfriend and Graeme's best friend David Platt. In 2011 Tina has been reinited with old friend Xin and helped her with money and visa problems, she also has continued her happy relationship with Graeme.

22.Gail McIntyre

Up next is a long standing character Gail McIntyre. Like Tina, Gail had a bad start to the year when husband Joe McIntyre died. However it was slightly worse for a Gail, as she ended up in jail after being blamed for the murder of Joe. To make matters worse, Old street resident Tracy lied to the police that Gail confessed to her that she did it. Gail was released, but Tracy returned to the street much to Gail's dismay, and they got in a catfight in the The Rovers. After another hard year chasing after her children, Gail ranks at 22

21.Mary Taylor
14.99% (Round 2)

Getting closer now, Mary ranks at 21. Mary seems very popular on digital spy and I think she would have maybe made the top 15 if she'd been seen more recently. 2010 included more stalking of Norris, including going on a trip to the countryside with him. After a rough time in the countryside, Norris decided to stop talking to Mary but they are now on speaking terms again and are regularly seen together. In 2011 Mary has popped up infrequently bringing some humour to coronation street.

20.David Platt
15.04% (Round 2)

At 20th is David Platt. As usual, David faced troubles in 2010. After helping mum Gail cope with the death of her husband Joe, David started to get frequently jealous of best friend and ex girlfriend Tina and Graeme's relationship. This lead to David running over Graeme in grandmother Audrey's car, He is about to be charged for attempted murder but it is revealed that he has epilepsy and blacked out when he ran over Graeme, not actually meaning to kill him. In 2011 David has seemed to get over Tina and has found a new girlfriend 'Candy', but is Candy more familiar then we think?

19.Gary Windass
15.29% (Round 2)

Next to make an appearance is Anna and Eddie's son Gary. As for most of the street, 2010 has been a hard year for Gary, after joining the army in 2009 Gary later was involved in a roadside bomb where he was injured and best friend Quinny died. Gary has found it hard to cope with this since returning from the army, and has faced shell shock. To add to his worries, Gary punched a policeman and was arrested and therefore is not allowed to return to army. He has had girlfriend Izzy Armstrong to help him cope with this who he recently moved in with in 2011.

Gary and David, I actully don't mind those two characters, I'm not a big fan of Scary Mary and her campervan though

18.Jason Grimshaw
15.55% (Round 2)

Getting into the higher places now, Jason finishes 18th. As one relationship with Tina McIntyre ended for him in 2010, a new storyline started with Rosie Webster, they are still going out and have maintained a good relationship despite Rosie's needy attitude and the way she treats Jason. Later in 2010 Jason saved the lives of many kids in the tram crash. In 2011 he has carried on with his relationship with Rosie.

17.Deirdre Barlow
15.67% (Round 2)

At 17 is Deirdre Barlow. I was really upset she didn't make the top 15 actually as she's in my top 3 current characters, though like most of the older characters she hasn't been as active in the current year. 2010 was a year for Deirdre, despite her putdowns she deeply loved her mother Blanche and found it hard to cope with her death. Towards the end of 2010 Deirdre was delighted too see daughter Tracy released from prison, however the rest of Weatherfield hasn't exactly shared the same joy and Deirdre has found with hard with Tracy's non stop rows with the rest of the street. In 2011 she helped step son Peter Barlow get through his situation with Leanne, as well as having scenes with Tracy

16.Audrey Roberts
16.96% (Round 2)

Just missing out on the top 15 is Audrey Roberts, highest of the Platt/Roberts/Tilsley/McIntyre family. I like Audrey and I think this is exactly the right place for her. 2010 saw Audrey find love with Lewis Archer, however this was short lived after finding out that Lewis was an escort, then later finding out he was a conman and also saw him kissing Deirdre Barlow. 2011 has seen Audrey get on with her business and try and help Gail and the rest of her family get through their troubles.
