15.Sophie Webster

In 15th place we have Sophie, I thought she would have been higher due to her popularity with the Sian storyline but I think 15 is around right for her. 2010 has been a breakthrough year for Sophie, after being mostly quiet before she faced a major storyline as she came out as being gay with best friend Sian. It has been hard due to there religion but have got over it and maintained a steady relationship, Sian is currently living with Sophie due to a fall out with her dad. The break up of her parents has affected Sophie, and so far in 2011 we have seen her face a downfall as she gets kicked out of college.

14.John Stape
5.26% (Round 3)

John is a character who's popularity has blossomed due to his accidental murder storyline. After gettin a job as a teacher under the name of Colin Fishwick has started major trouble for John, after the real Colin finds out John has been using his identity, John and fellow colleague Charlotte Hoyle got in a massive row with Colin after he found out and suddenly died, not wanting to get framed for the murder John and Charlotte hid his body under Underworld. However Charlotte proved more trouble for John, and John ended up accidently killing her aswell after she believed they were in a relationship, John's third 'accidental murder' was Joy Fishwick, mother of Colin Fishwick. In 2011 John has been sectioned after all this has proved to much for him.

13.Rita Sullivan
5.50% (Round 3)

High up at number 13 is Rita Sullivan, the highest of the Older cast! 2010 has seen Rita be her usual self, and saw her get in a fight with Audrey Roberts! Later in the year Rita had to fight for her life and she was trying to get chocolates from the kabin and a tram crashed into the street causing the shelf to fall down on her, she was sent to hospital but only ended up with minor injuries and soon made a full recovery. I thought Rita would be in the top 10 actually, but she still ended up with a very respectable place.

12.Rosie Webster
5.85% (Round 3)

At 12 we have Rosie, a character who has improved in popularity majorly in the year as if this was done last year I dont think she would have made the top 30. 2010 has seen Rosie's modelling career continue, as well as her new found relationship with Jason Grimshaw. Later Rosie was furious after finding out her father was the father of another baby and had been having an affair with Molly Dobbs, due to this Rosie left home and is now living with Jason. I like what they've done with Rosie and made her more of a comical character, she is a favourite of mine

11.Julie Carp
5.91% (Round 3)

In 11th place is Julie, Julie doesn't spring to mind when you think of corrie legends, however Julie has prooved popular with viewers and I think she deserves this place. In 2010 we have seen her bond with Eileen Grimshaw, after finding out they were sisters in 2009 and they have now maintained a steady relationship and in 2011 we have seen Julie help Eileen break into Owen Armstrong's builders yard and steal dodgy documents after he threatened to tell the police about Eileen's fraud. Julie is still on the lookout for a man, but continues to be lonely.

10.Becky McDonald
7.24% (Round 4)

The first of the top 10 is Becky McDonald. Becky has prooved popular with viewers since her first appearance in 2006, and her marriage with Steve McDonald has gained her more fans. Personally I find her a bit annoying but can see why people like her and I'm not suprised she made the top 10. 2010 has seen Becky desperate to become a mother, which lead to her stealing money of good friends Dev and Sunita Alahan too pay for nephew Max Turner. She has also showed that she cares about stepdaughter Amy Barlow, after getting in numerous fight with Amy's biological mother Tracy over the custody of Amy. Becky's stealing of Dev and Sunita's money has come back to haunt them as Dev and Sunita have faced money problems and Becky's husband Steve has lied that he was the one who stole the money. Out of the top 10 I would rank Becky 10th, so I'm happy she's finished here.

9.Roy Cropper
8.38% (Round 4)

Ranking at number 9 is oddball Roy. I think Roy is a great character and I love his relationship with Hayley, in the 15 odd years he's been in corrie I would definetly say he's gained legend status and is worthy of a place in the top 10. In 2010 we saw Roy finally get engaged with long term partner Hayley Patterson, but problems arise before this as Hayley moves in with Anna Windass after tension with Roy, and is later held at gunpoint and nearly killed by Tony Gordon. Despite these troubles Roy and Hayley get married in August in a happy event. Roy later helped after the disastrous tram crash by taking in refuges who had lost there home. Roy has not appeared as much in 2011, mostly in the background of scenes but with the arrival of his mother to come, we could start seeing Roy alot more. I would rank Roy 8th out of the top 10 characters, so pretty close to my ranking.

8.Hayley Cropper
8.41% (Round 4)

Finishing just before her new husband is Hayley Cropper. The first transexual in a british soap, like Roy I think Hayley has definetly gained legend status since she first appeared in Weatherfield. Originally only meant to be in it for 2 months, Hayley has stayed in it since 1998 and has since gained may fans. 2010 was a happy year for Hayley as due to the law change her and Roy could now legally marry, however there were a few hiccups before this. Due to tensions over wedding planning, Hayley moved in with Anna Windass. And later Hayley faced a near death experience after being held in hostage by Tony Gordon. Hayley finally got too marry Roy in late 2010. So far in 2011 Hayley has not appeared much, and only in background of scenes but I think she will start appearing more. I would rank her 9th out of the top 10, so pretty close again.

7.Norris Cole
8.83% (Round 4)

Gossiping Busybody Norris manages to finish 7th, a pretty respectable position. I love Norris and find him really hilarious, really happy he's in this place as he is definetly a legendary character. Mary Taylor has featured alot in Norris's year, after she returned to Weatherfield after seeing a picture of Norris with Emily's neice Freda. Norris and Mary went off to the countryside, however this appeared disastrous for Norris after realising Mad Mary has made sure Norris cant escape from the cottage, broken his glasses and hear Mary mentioning that him and Norris are married. Terrified, Norris made an attempt to escape and ended up at the police station telling them that Mary is holding her captive. No charges were made and Norris and Mary soon made amends. Norris has appeared in 2011, being the gossiping busybody we all know and love him for. I ranked Norris 7th so happy he is at this place.

6.Sally Webster
9.90% (Round 4)

Ranking at 6 is Sally Webster. Another great Corrie legend who definetly deserves her place in the top 10, I am starting to love independent Sally and think the actress Sally Dynevor has been brilliant- especially in tram crash week. Sally has had highs and lows in 2010- mostly lows. Started the year with the revelation that she has breast cancer she went to stay with her sister and luckily came back recovered in July 2010 (Storyline was changed due to actress Sally Dynevor really getting breast cancer) However her life was not going to be easy for the rest of 2010, Sophie dropped a bombshell on her that she was infact a lesbian and was in a relationship with best friend Sian. Sian has been staying with Sally and Sophie due to her father kicking her out. Later after friend Molly Dobbs was dying after the tram crash, she revealed to her that she had had an affair with Sally's wife Kevin and her baby was his. Sally did not take kindly to this and has thrown Kevin out and been incredibly bitter. In 2011 Sally has got a new independent status, and has started a relationship with a man named Jeff. I ranked Sally 6 in my personal top 10, so happy with her ranking.

5.Steve McDonald
9.04% (Round 4)

Next up is Steve McDonald, personally LOVE this character and happy he made the top 5. Think he's played by a fantastic actor who is great at doing both comedy and serious and he is another great long serving character. 2010 has seen Steve happily (most of the time) married to Becky McDonald. Despite having daughter Amy, Becky is desperate to have her own child and Steve agrees with this. However Becky and Steve are left saddened after finding out that Becky cannot concieve. They decide to try adopting but having not been succesful Becky tried to buy nephew Max off her sister Kylie. This lead to desperate measures as Becky stole of Sunita and Dev to pay for Max. Steve was appalled at this and for a while his and Becky's relationship was rocky. Steve later faced more dismay when mum of daughter Amy, Tracy Barlow returned wanting full custody of her daughter. In 2011 Steve won 5 grand in a casino and has payed back the Alahans after they faced money troubles, and lied that it was him who stole it in the first place to protect Becky. This is around where I would rank Steve

4.Leanne Barlow
10.63% (Round 4)

Leanne ranks at very respectable 4th place. Really love this character and actually ranked her 2nd out of the 10 characters, but am chuffed she did this well. Think she has really shone in 2010 due to her getting great storylines and having a great relationship with Peter, and also the Jane Danson (the actress) is amazing! 2010 saw Leanne carry on with her relationship with Peter, but things turned more complicated when she started an affair with business partner and ex husband Nick Tilsley, despite Peter being over his alcoholism and having a good relationship with Peter's son Simon, Leanne couldn't resist Nick. Leanne saw Peter almost die after the tram crash, and was completely devestated. This made Leanne end her affair with Nick and get married to Peter as she thought he was dying. Leanne and Peter renewed there vows in 2011, but Peter had found out about her affair and humiliated her in front of everyone. After splitting up temporarily, Leanne was prepared to leave Weatherfield but Peter stopped her and they are now back together.

3.Peter Barlow
11.34% (Round 4)

Following on from wife Leanne, Peter finishes in the top 3 and becomes the highest rated male. Peter is another great character who I ranked 4th but am very happy with him being 3rd! Like many of the other top 10, the brilliant actor Chris Gascoyne helps give the character of Peter Barlow more realism and makes him a great character. 2010 has been a hard year for Peter, recovering from his alcoholism Peter thought he had everyone he could ever want, a girlfriend who loves him, a strong relationship with his son, good friends and supportive parents. Unknown to Peter, Leanne was having an affair with old flame Nick Tilsley behind his back. Peter almost lost his life in the tram crash, and has been frequently frustrated with alot of things. 2011 started bad for Peter, after getting back into his alcoholism he soon found out about Leanne's affair. After using the renewal of his vows to humiliate Leanne, he later realised he still loved her and took her back. He is currently on honeymoon with Leanne and son Simon.
