Blocking a number on a mobile phone?
Hope this is the right place to post this?
![]() Anyway I was just wondering if there were any mobiles that had the ability to block/reject numbers on them? And if it worked on a txt message too? Or can this only be done through your network? Thanks!

AFAIK mobile networks can't block numbers or anonymous calls.

I'm pretty sure old Samsung phones allowed you to do this but I don't think you can anymore.

I don't know what kind of phone this person has-but they did seem positive they had the ability to block certain numbers-and had done it before.
I'm sure there is no way to know anyhow unless they tell you? |

As said, older Samsung phones had a block list you could add numbers to, so he may have had one that allowed it. Not sure on all modern phones, my current Samsung doesn't allow me to block numbers but my older one did.

I've got a 2 year old Samsung G600 and I can block numbers so they just show as missed calls instead of ringing out. (I did this with British Gas who kept ringing me after I'd changed providers).

My old Nokia phone had an app that could be used to block phone calls. Not sure about texts - maybe, but can't remember.

My old Samsung allowed me to block calls and texts from specific numbers.
There is an application for android phones called 'Blacklist' which does the job quite well. |

Most phones allow you to put a number on silent which causes some phones to reject that call automatically.

A friends HTC Desire has a call blocking app. It won't truly block the call from coming through to the phone, it will simply scan the incoming call number and then decline the call automatically.
