Modern Warfare 3 Hardened Edition leaked!

http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2011/0...dened-edition/
Quote:
The premium “Hardened Edition” of upcoming shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will ship with a year of free membership to Call of Duty Elite, among other features, according to an anonymous source who provided a photo to Wired.com.

Activision will release the highly anticipated Modern Warfare 3, with new weapons based on input from real-life Delta Force operatives, on Nov. 8 for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and DS. The deluxe Hardened Edition package, which publisher Activision will unveil at its first Call of Duty XP convention this weekend in Los Angeles, will feature unique disc art, a collectible steel case and a 100-page “field journal” packed with Call of Duty sketches and diagrams.
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 game with unique disc art.
  • One year of membership in Call of Duty Elite.
  • “Founder status” on Elite with exclusive in-game emblem, player card, camouflage, clan XP boost and other exclusive benefits.
  • SteelBook case.
  • PlayStation Network exclusive: “Animated Timeline Theme.”
  • Xbox 360 exclusive: “Special Ops Juggernaut Xbox Live Outfit.”
  • Limited-edition “field journal” with more than 100 pages of “authentic military sketches, diagrams and written entries.”
So who's buying it then? And the golden question is how much will it be.

Nope, doesn't interest me in the slightest, so I don't care how much it is.

lol Ditto.
I have never ever brought any special edition, normally just buy the standard version. One because I'm boring and two because I'm a cheapstake

The product listings on Eurogamer are the same as what you've listed above, but with one key addition:

Quote:
- One year of membership in Call of Duty Elite, including future MW3 DLC
I take that mean that you get the DLC's for free as part of the Elite sub when they're released? If that's the case and the HE is only £20 or so more (like the MW2 and BO HE's were) then it might actually be worth considering as you might end up saving money in the long run if you intend to buy the map packs anyway.

I may get the premium edition if i can get a good price.

I'm not one for ordering special edition of games that come with 'exclusive' artwork or figures; But i'm all for editional content.

Yes, Sorry thought most people knew that the premium version of ELITE came with all future DLC for free.

Talking about DLC and maps, from the leak the other day it looks like MW3 will only start of with 13 playable mutliplayer maps. Down one from BO and three from MW2! I guess we will see 4 map packs maybe even 5 next year.

And as for saving money in the long run it might be true, however no ones pays £55 retail price for MW3. So I assume HE will be £75?

Hopefully with 3 less maps to focus on then the 13 will be tighter and better than we've got in the last few games. The CoD4 maps were perfectly balanced. Everything after that has been a letdown IMO.

Free DLC with premium elite - all of a sudden HE has come back onto my radar. Got BlOps HE for £50 so anything around that and I'll snap it up.

I doubt it will be £50.

Gears of War 3 is getting a 'Season Pass' which is 2400msp (about £22) which includes four DLCs which will otherwise be 800msp (about £7-8), one free basically.

If MW3 is to have 4 map packs like Black Ops, at 1200msp each, it equates to 4800msp which is about £40-5 depending on where you get your points from. If they do the whole 'get one free' a bit like Black Ops HE got free zombies, it'll be about £30 worth of DLC.

The standard game is RRP £55 but mostly sells for £40-45.

No idea how much CoD Elite is but probably £5 a month, so one year sub + 4x DLC.

I predict it'll be £80 maybe even £100 RRP. No news on a 'Prestige Edition' yet? They might scrap that for just two editions...

That was a bargain! where did you get it from for that price out of interest?

Yeah if it was to be £50 I'll certainly buy it, but I doubt it will ever be that cheap with all the perks and benefits listed. Closer to £100 might be right

I'll be surprised if they scrap the prestige edition as we're talking about activision here they want every penny out of us. And selling a game for £100+ is right down their street.

The last two HE's have had an RRP of £69.99 but pretty much everywhere on the internet offered it at least £10 cheaper. I got the BO HE for £54.99 last year. No doubt that the Prestige Edition will be over £100, but i really can't see the HE costing that much just because it's comes with a years free Elite. I imagine that Activision will be trying to hook as many people into Elite this year as they can.

I rounded to £50 - I think it was actually £54.99 from Shopto.

I'll take a view when I see what the price actually is. Don't want to pin myself down to a drop-dead price, I expect it'll depend on what mood I'm in at the time.

More Multiplayer Info

1. All the maps so far have been small and full of cover however they all have good routes for Capture The Flag.
2. Dog tags game mode where you pick up dog tags off the players you kill, if you pickup dog tags from your team mates kills they won’t count. It's called Kill Confirmed (in the video)
3. Guns have there own perks.
4. Customizable reticles.
5. The flag pick up/return is a second.
6. M16 is 2 burst kill and is similar to the CoD4 M16.
7. Dead Silence is unlocked at Level 55.
8. You are able to restrict a lot in private matches. example: guns, killstreaks, perks etc…
9. A perk where you can walk faster whilst aiming in.
10. A perk which allows you to see an Enemy from far away.

If I'm honest it looks bit disappointing in my eyes. Maybe it's the way they presented it through 3rd person. I would have preferred the way the BO multiplayer teaser was shown.

Anyway it looks like the video has been removed, odd considering it was from the official CALLOFDUTY youtube page

Maybe they will be used in the same way as in Crysis 2. In crysis 2 you kill someone and have to collect their dropped dog tag for it to count towards your killstreak. It eliminates camping because no dog tag, no killstreak.

Hopefully, that's is what is for.

Why the fook show it in theatre mode FFS?!

The maps look great, the perks look as expected, the gameplay, couldn't really tell fook all from 3rd person view.

Can't see them doing that as it also punished snipers. If I shoot someone across the other side of the map I'm not really going to be wanting to have to traverse the map to claim the kill.

Is it me or is COD getting repetitive with it's yearly releases of the same old same old routine of small maps with the notion of running round like a headless chicken shooting anything in sight.

No more COD buying in the Cynet household.
