I am a bit confused, I have a faulty iPhone where it will no longer switch to Wifi from 3G.

Have gone through all the fault finding; resetting network settings, system restore, etc. Fault exists on two independent Wifi networks that have been okay up to now and all other devices connect fine.

It sees the network and has a tick next to it in wifi settings but the 3G symbol never changes to the Wifi waves.

I have iPhone insurance from O2 but online claim form seems to biased towards lost, stolen or damaged rather than an out of warranty fault.

Do I just take it into an O2 store stating I have insurance. What is the excess for 3GS, website says 'From £50'.

Sounds an odd one, but unseat the sim, and put it back in.

A bloke from work had this, and that is all I did, and it got the wifi working again

I had a quick look around, have you tried the steps here?

Ouch.

o2 Insurance is £15 a month. Over a year, that would have come to £180. There's also a £75 excess charge (for 16GB iPhones) on top of that and you're not sure they're going to cover you? Shows you what a rip-off that is.

For £146.44, Apple would give you a replacement iPhone with their out of warranty service, which in your case, you would be eligible for.

Indeed, this issue gave me a wake up call to the insurance and has now been cancelled.

Are you still within your contract?

If your end of the contract is to keep the phone / pay the bills for the duration then o2's (as your seller) is to make sure the phone and service works for the length of the contract.

I know you have resolved your fault but don't hesitate to complain to o2 should you need to..
