All star superman cartoon
Just watched this. I was expecting it to be nothing like the comic but its a very faithful adaptation, managing to cram most of the story into just over an hour and it really captures the magic of the series, something I'd have thought impossible before I saw it. Its certainly the best Superman cartoon I've ever seen and Irt would be great if they make a live action versus some time.

It's a pretty good adaptation of a wildly overrated comic. The movie leaves out the worst parts, but the very "episodic" nature of the comic makes for a very strange flow for a movie, it has to be said.
Another problem is that nobody seems to write Superman as a likable or charismatic character anymore. It feels like too many writers have gotten too wrapped up in the demi-god/Jesus characterisation. It's just a bit boring, and James Denton's uninspired voice acting didn't exactly help. All in all, good, but nothing special. |

Had a watch of this a few weeks back. I agree with the others, it is a pretty faithful adaptation of a decent but not amazing story. It's not quite up there with GL First Flight or Superman Doomsday, or even New Frontier or WW, but it's definitely worth a watch. Quote:

I think JMS had been hoping to fix that with the on-going Grounded arc, but sadly it's just a boring mess! I believe he's no longer working on it, though, and is now doing a follow up to Superman Earth One, so perhaps there's hope! I haven't actually read Superman Earth One, so I don't know if that does a good job of humanising Supes. (Obviously I'm aware that it's an alternate Earth Supes, but all the same...)
