Will This Be The Final Series?

Just read on Wikipedia that Torvill and Dean are contracted upto this year and are paid £250,000 each series and that the show is comissioned upto 2011. Do you think ITV will axe it? Do you think Torvill and Dean will want to continue and do you think it could continue without them if they decide not to continue?

I don't think the show would be quite the same without Torvill and Dean

There's a twitter out there too that can just about be read as implying this is the last tour in the run. But why would ITV stop after 2011, when they have nothing to replace it, if its ratings were good? Is there a shortage of celebs ? They seem to have wasted some good ones this year (Nadia and Angela) which could suggest they are using them up this year or they have plenty. They found more good skaters this year than last.

On the other hand, if they are contracted for multiple years at once, will they decide to commit to that many years again and pay whats needed, will Tand D want to commit for long, and how and when will they sort out a new contract?

The ratings are up on last year so can't imagine ITV would axe it. I suspect Jayne & Chris might not want to commit to a longer term deal going forward so they will probably agree things on a year by year basis. It will probably be confirmed towards the end of the series if the show is returning.

The show is built so much around Jayne & Chris that I am not sure it would survive without them.

It should be axed.

I think it would survive without them. They have been on less this series. Guess it depends who would take their place if they did leave.

Well I certainly hope not! Might as well get rid of my TV if they scrap Dancing On Ice!

OK, maybe an exxageration, but I'd be really sad if it goes. I do think ITV will want to hang on to it as its obviously still massively popular, to me T&D are the main question point as others have said. I do think that ITV would try to keep the show going even if they wanted out, how well it would work I don't know. Personally I hope they realise that the show is best when its about skating rather than daft PR stunts, judges arguing etc. and bear that in mind next year!

I hope it stays. I agree a yearly contract may be better for T&D, as it's a November- May job.

Ithink this has been the worst series, somehow lacking sparkle and great performances so it wouldn't surprise me if it were the last. I would be sad to see it go though

But with respect, ratings are all that matter, not what people on a website think .

I don't think there is any way it will finish. It's still getting 8m viewers.

Plus there is the new set which suggests it will carry on next year,...
