iPhone problem, can't hear on top volume
Hi
I have an iPhone 3G and it's just about impossible to use for phone calls - I have the volume up as high as it will go and even with the phone pressed right into my ear I can barely hear. In a public place or with any sort of background noise there's no point even trying to use it. Speakerphone doesn't seem much louder than the earpiece. I've searched the internet but most complaints about this seem to be the ringing volume rather than in call. Does anyone else have this problem or is my phone just broken? I bought it second hand so I can't say whether it was OK and has become worse or if the phones are just like that anyway. I'm not going deaf, btw! Thanks in advance. |

So you are annoyed because you cannot use the speaker phone in a public place?
You would drive me mental. Do yo play your music out of the speaker too? |

Not at all. What I mean is it's impossible to hear phone calls through the earpiece in a perfectly quiet room, so using it outside is pointless due to background noise.
I'm not bothered about the speakerphone, I never use it - it was merely to see if it was any different and it's just as useless as the earpiece. Are all iPhones like this or is mine just broken? |

Sounds broken. I rarely have my 3GS on top volume and I can usually hear through the earpiece fine, even in busy places.

Cheers for the replies. I have had people say they can't hear me on the other end too and today someone couldn't hear me at all...
I think it's new phone time!
