Which Mobile Phone Co Offers The Best Pay As You Go Rates?....
Mainly on a phone you already own but I might be interested in buying a phone up to £50.
Had a look at their websites and the compare sites, but they are full of offers, quite complicated ones too. A lot of the sites seem to be trying to force people to use web and text offers, which I'm not interested in, I'd prefer the talk time. Back in the day, you just topped up and used, now they seem to be wanting to still draw you into some sort of obliation on their offers. Anyone help me out on this one? |

If you just want talk time, T-Mobile PAYG offer 100 minutes a month as long as you top up by £10 per month

looks like vodaphone might be slightly cheaper than 02 on a per minute charge basis. Think they charge 25p a min on 08 numbers where most of the rest are 35p upwards. I'd rather not go back to vodaphone though. |

What are posters views of tesco mobile? I'm very tempted to go with them on pay as you go. They tripple your credit!
Any catches I need to look out for or common kind of complains that people only find out about after joining? |

Thats the rub. I don't want a contract, just want pay as you go on a good deal in order to get out of having obliged monthly direct debits going out. |

I use 3 PAYG. They have "addons" whereby you top up £xx and use it to buy the "All in One" bundles,
I think there is also free 3 to 3 calls too. You would have to check on this though. All in One 10 gives 3000 txts, 500mb, 100 mins All in One 15 gives 3000 txts, 500mb, 300mins All in One 25 gives 3000 txtx, 1gb and 500mins Voice calls are for landline, mobile. Any 0845 etc you would need additional credit. All addons will use the £ credit you topped up with though, so remember that. The addons last 30 days. IMHO this is the best PAYG paln for my own personal preference. http://www.three.co.uk/Pay_As_You_Go/Voice_Add_ons |

Proper PAYG Rundown
3 give goodish deals, but they have notoriously patchy coverage, and notoriously poor customer service. You have to be very sure that you won't want to keep using your phone in one of their 'black holes'. I know people who have tried them out and switched back.
I'm on ASDA, as it is straightforwardly cheap. I've also used Lycamobile Plus in parallel, as I make international calls, and their generous free L-2-L minutes mean they are also a kind of 'immigrant network' as groups of family and friends will have a Lycamobile phone for calling Ghana or Nigeria or Pakistan etc. At the moment Vectone is coming up on the inside by attempting to match Lycamobile +, and also offering free web access (which is difficult to shake once you get into the habit). I have also used Tesco, but I went off them because you just cannot speak to a live person at Customer Services. Also, I had an astonishing ordeal with them over somebody's Tesco phone I found. They didn't want me to give it back to the owner. Really. The best deals of all are if you are on contract, and insist you want to leave. One network will offer you 300mins + txts for £5/m just to stay with them!!! ![]() In big cities, you can get free SIMs at kiosks if you buy some credit at the same time, so for a back up PAYG phone I'm a complete tart, and hop across to any good deal I see. You can take your number with you, so no problems so long as your handset is unlocked. |

We use Tesco Mobile Lite tariff as it is similar to Asda Mobile with 8p min calls and 4p texts however, Tesco Lite is also 8p min for 0844 numbers which Asda charge 35p min for as my husband was cleaned out of credit twice on Asda calling an 0844 number.
Tesco Mobile also has the user option to block premium rate texts from stealing your credit. Tesco has just changed its call charges on its PAYG free credit so you do not get as much talktime as before (standard calls now 25p min was 20p min and favourite numbers are now 12p min was 10p min), however they are saying that the £4 MB rate will drop soon to 60p MB (Asda Mobile 20p MB) and new bundles will shortly be coming out 500MB for £5 and 1GB for £7.50. The new 5000 texts for £5 is out already I believe. Two last points are that Tesco Mobile min top up is £10 which is double that of Asda Mobile £5. Asda Mobile text delivery reports are automatic but tesco you have to put the *0# at the start of each message you want the report for. So it is up to the individual to choose which one suits them, |
