Over the weekend I managed to damage the screen on my Sony KDL32V2000 LCD TV courtesy of a Wii remote.

I have purchased a replacement, but as the damaged one 'still works', and it was IMO a superior picture, I started to look for other faulty ones on ebay, the problem being there are some 32" Sony's but not exactly the same model.

This got me thinking does anyone know of a database of interchangeable screens, as it may be possible another model or even make of screen may fit.

Or, can I access Sony for part numbers to compare?

It seems sacrilegious to just bin it as it cost me over a grand!

I've never seen any such database, and also the same Sony model may use a number of different LCD panels. If you fit different one to the original, you usually have to install different software as well.

I've just checked that model, there are EIGHT different partnumbers listed, in two groups of four. Within each group it's a direct replacement, with different groups you have to change the software, and also adjust the white balance.

The original LCD panel is P/N 180213511, and is about £375+VAT.

Thank you for the info Nigel, there must be a hell of a lot of useful stuff that goes to landfill.

Hadn't considered the software issues, now I know the pt no. I can compare it to other models, if I can find one cheap enough, I may take a punt.

Thanks again.
