I have a Sony 32EX503 in the living room - 1080p, Freeview HD (starts next month from Sandy).
Very pleased.
Sound quality is decent (not great) , but better than your average thin LCD.
Paid 429 from Best Buy on special - now 599, but shop around.

Forgot to mention 100Hz MotionFlow which really seems to do a good job.

keep to Sony or Panasonic, you wont regret it. Too many problems with LG & Samys, get a five year warranty thrown in.

Toshiba. 1080 Freeview HD, £300 + 32RV753

After bad after sales service from Sony and Panasonic I vowed never to buy anything from them again.

Have a look at places like John Lewis or Sony Centres as they are including a five year guarantee in the cost of the TV.
Other than that also have a look at somewhere like Richer Sounds.

My ex-wife is good at finding low prices and paying via discount sites like Quidco.

My set (Tosh 32RV753) appears to have come from Reliant TV, Blackpool, but that wasn't the name of the website.

The Tosh has analogue and loads of inputs.

Must be Reliantdirect also of Blackpool but I think Currys/Dixons are cheaper for the Tosh at mo.

Currys have a clearance store in Chester and sell off sets with slight damage, missing mains leads etc. May be other branches?

As regards Sony, Ok you will get a bad one, but the parts are
available, With others like Samsung parts are difficult.

Always get a five year guarantee, even if it uploads by £50 to £60, panels are not like CRT and can go anytime.

I used JL for the free 5 year warranty when I bought a Panasonic D28 from them.

True but in a lot of cases the cost of the tv is proportionally higher to cover the 'free' 5 year warranty.

Case in point was when I was looking to get a new tv. Ended up with a G20 Panny but JL price was about £100 more than where I bought it from.

Always remember, there is no such thing as 'free', it's a mythical beast.

They do, but only locally - presumably he bought on-line where overheads are minimal.
