It was just about the tweet Sophie made today about her being in the recording studio. So Sophie-gate (as Snoop named it) deepens!

People were asking why was she there and is she taking over Dan's vocals as she's ill. Stuff like that.

what she'll be on the cast CD?!?! Do we actually know what is wrong with Dan? Is it a throat thing?

Well apparently she's on the album if she's going to the studio's and recording vocals... it better not be instead of Dan's vocals coz that would cause major uproar! I will demand ALW's head on a stick!
It could be her version of SOTR, it better not be 'as good as home' I only want to hear Dan's voice on that one.

Don't know whats wrong with Dan, she hasn't said anything other than feeling unwell.

It is a bit odd, has an alternate ever been on an official cast recording. I wonder will they do a mash up of Danielle and Sophie's vocals, Andy loves his mash.

Hmm, I haven't listened to many cast recording CD's but I guess it should only be the main lead doing the vocals not the alternate.

Big NO from me for a mash up of vocals. Not fair on Dan.

Sophie was recording with Emily Tierney and the only times Dorothy sings with Glinda is in Munchkinland and the axed 'as good as home'.
We will have to wait and see.

The only time I know that an understudy appeared in place of the main actor on a cast recording was the Original Broadway Cast album for the musical 1776 (check it out, it's one of my faves!), where Howard Da Silva, the actor who played Benjamin Franklin, was not available for the recording because he was recovering from a heart attack, so his part was done on the album by his understudy Rex Everhart. Everhart also took over the role for a while on Broadway while Da Silva recovered.

In this case, while we don't know what Dan's illness is (and it's none of our business so I wish random fans would stop asking her that on Twitter), I highly doubt it's anything as drastic as a heart attack, so I think they could wait a week or so to record a few tracks rather than replacing her with Sophie. I think Sophie is probably just recording bonus tracks, but I guess we will find out when the album is released.

I had no part in Sophiegate hitting the forum. Seems that other people are just as concerned as I am.

Dan was spotted in Tescos today, so whatever she has isn't life threatening.
It's so sad reading tweets from people who are saying their coming down just to see her and she won't be on.
