One SCART socket to two devices
Hi;
Is there such a SCART cable that allows one end to be plugged into a device (Freeview box, whatever) and the other side have TWO connectors to allow two display devices be powered by the original socket? I've been all over Google putting 'SCART Doubler' but all I get is those devices that you plug two SCARTs into and push a button to choose which you're going to output to the attached single cable. I want the other way round! Make sense? |

You can't (or shouldn't) split a video signal just with a passive Y cable. Video needs a certain voltage level to drive the display correctly. Using a Y cable halves that voltage.
The right way to do this is with a distribution amplifier. 1 input feeds then feeds two or more displays and gives each one 100% signal level rather than 50%. Keene Electronics do one that is compatible with all SCART signals up to RGB (this is a good thing) for about £30. They are a decent company to deal with and won't sell you a bit of tat just because it's cheap. No doubt there'll be something a bit cheaper on the interweb. Just be careful that it's fully wired so you aren't cutting quality corners in cutting the price. |
