More Nokia phone woes..
A year or so i got a Nokia N86 on free upgrade with my O2 contract - to cut a long story short - it was pants, there is a thread about it somewhere on here.. Anyway, so after sending me 3 N86's - all with the same problem, i finally managed to get them to give me another model. I went for the Nokia 6700 slide, it's slim and simple..
It's been fine for about 10 months then over the weekend it went all to pieces - it kept going to messages and freezing on that menu, after taking the battery out a few times and turning it on and off, it's been ok but my reception seems to have really deteriorated. I am yet to check with another o2 phone but all of a sudden my house & work which was always pretty much full signal has gone to 1 - 2 bars. I also no longer have 3g under my signal indicator just a couple of dashed arrow type things - they are horizontal, one faces one way and the other faces the other way (i hope that makes sense to someone!) Any idea's anyone? I guess it's covered by the Nokia 12 month warranty but the thought of going through the whole soul sucking process of speaking to call centres etc really doesn't appeal! cheers! |

The arrows mean you have a data connection, dashed means your not sending or receiving. Check the status page at status.o2.co.uk to see if there are any reported problems. Although it does sound like the phone is faulty.

warranty is 24 months, and you can even do the repair via the website with UPS collecting and returning. No much of a hassle at all.

I wondering now, if something has happened near my home to weaken the signal. I don't know - a new building blocking the mast or something...? Quote:

Hopefully i can just keep going until the next upgrade is due. |

Just thought i would update:
Possibly, my phones weak signal was down to the o2 network rather than the phone. o2 now have a status page where you can put your postcode in for live status: http://status.o2.co.uk/ For both home & work it says: "Sorry a phone mast close to you isn't working This means you might experience problems making calls, using the internet, or sending/receiving emails in this area." I checked another couple of post codes just to make sure that it didn't say the same thing for everywhere and they were both fine.. |
