I was wondering if anyone had heard about any of the networks revamping their price plans over the next couple of months ? It seems to have been quite a while ago since any of the networks had a refresh. Most of the networks seem to offer almost the same thing these days apart from 3 who do seem to be doing their own thing.
Any tariff refresh on the horizon ?

I know that O2 have stated in the trade mags about a tariff re-jig this month.
As to any others, I have no idea.

That stunning no one noticed. As I said before all the price plans are just about the same these days. The networks are either to scared or (more likely) to greedy to try anything different.

Under new EU legislation all mobile networks must offer 12 month contracts.

Do you know when this comes into play as I want to upgrade, i'm with 3 on a sim only 12 month plan, and i'll be beggered if i'm signing a 2 year contract

It has to be done by May 2011 but networks will probably start offering 12 month contracts before that on the quiet.
The majority of new contracts are now 24 Month.

You do realise that makes no difference at all?
All networks already offer 12 month contracts, on SIM ONLY. The EU ruling doesn't say anything about having to package a handset with it.
Even if they did offer 12 months contracts with handets, you can bet your bottom dollar they'd be such poor value for money it wouldn't be worth it.
Me, at the end of my 24 month contract will quite happily take an 18 month one next time. 24 is a bit too long, but don't have a desire to change every 12, so am happy for a "better" deal than a 12 month deal.
Yup I have to agree. If they do offer 12 month contracts with handsets they will make sure that they are priced in such a way that it would be better for the customer to get an 18 or 24 month contract. The days of a £25 a month with a cheap (and latest) handset on a 12 month contract are long gone and I don't expect them to come back ever.

In addition, under the new rules, the maximum initial duration of a contract signed by a consumer with an operator will be no longer than 24 months. Operators must also offer consumers the possibility of agreeing to a contract with a maximum duration of 12 months.
