My HDR can read the firmware from my Kingston Stick, but it won't read anything else. I have to use a different 'stick' (actual an SD card that folds open to reveal a USB prong.)

If you re-order the channels and that's it (you don't add any non-Freesat channels to the EPG), if you perform an automatic search for new channels or even a manual one, does it revert back to the old line-up?

it also reverts if theres any channel updates (channels move freq)

I've loaded the firmware for the Raydon's FTP media server update, then loaded the software for the channel editor, and the FTP "bit" stopped working???
Is it one or the other?

With the edit channels firmware loaded, the Humax no longer appears as a Network drive on my computer so I assumed that the edit channel firmware had overwritten the raydon firmware??

I'll reload the edit channel firm ware, as I think I used the wrong password!!

Should both of these firmware update work together?

Update, loaded edit channels firmware, and HDR no longer a network drive, using Filzila, tried to access the HDR with password "root" error message ECONNRefused??

I haven't loaded the channell edit FTP programme as I assume the Raydon firmware FTP programme is still on the machine??

1. The ftp user is root and the password blank.
2. The workgroup has changed to media which may well be causing you not to see it. (you can change the workgroup in smb.conf (Do NOT add line feeds to the file).

It would have been nice if they did but unfortunately mogie decided, for reasons unknown, to move the complete custom directory structure from the hd4 partition to the hd3 partition, effectively nuking any backwards compatibilty to all previous releases. You will need to flash with mogies firmware to take advantage of his channel editor mod. And also re-install the twonky and samba packages using his USB auto-install facility. Be aware, as REPASSAC has stated, that all previous settings you have made to samba and twonky will be lost and you will need to reconfigure them.

Again FTP server need to be setup using mogies auto-install, same for telnet. The earlier telnet and FTP server daemons are gone. The only thing that remains is the custom directory tree from my earlier release. You will find this under /mnt/hd4/. Just delete the /mnt/hd4/opt directory to tidy things up.

Ray-don, I'll stick to your mod, which works great. Too much hassle to swap backwards and forwards, if they worked together I'd stick with it.
Just a quick question, if we ever get a firmware update from Humax, will this overwrite your mod? If so do I just need to re-install your firmware?
I assume that your directory stucture, settings etc, stay in place?

Which processor is the version of Twonky that runs on the HDR, designed to run on?

When I access Twonky on the HDR via a UPnP player, it says 'Trial expired...'. - after less than a day!

I might try Mediatomb if I can find a suitable version. I don't want to cross compile!

Yes, it will be overwritten. I would need to then release an update. However, this conflict with mogies latest version has left me in a bit of a dilemma as to whether I should continue to support my release any longer. I stll prefer the original location for custom stuff, but I'm not getting into a situation where each release from a different author conflicts with what went before. I believe in continuity, and building on what is already there. I may just update my own version to suit my own needs and leave it at that.

You need a mips version statically linked with uclibc. Only precompiled version available is for mipsel. Different endianness, so won't work.

Just to say that I think that would be a real shame, your package works really well and I am intending to stick with it if possible. The channel editor, great work though it is, seems to have too many downsides to me, with respect to channel updates, Freesat/Non-Freesat recording functionality. I won't be trying it unless these can be addressed.

Is there anyway to stop the HDR doing an automatic retune? - perhaps by changing the permissions on the original .fcl file.

If I update the fcl file after a retune I lose my timers, so I would prefer to have no auto updates. I would just have to make changes if the parameters of one of the main channels chnages. This happens - but not that often.

I for one would like to continue using your mod, the channel edit function is usful but has some issues. I have used your mod extensively and it looks rock solid, don't give up on it!!

You need it to pick up any new channel freq change, sometimes some channels are moved around - stopping that would stop any freq changes.

So you could be trying to view a channel and its a blank picture.

there is a lot of issues, and maybe avoid for the moment needs a lot of work to be done.

i've moved back to raydon's only because of the niggles with slow downs on other devices.

The channels we watch don't change that much. I know because our main TV uses an 'FTA' receiver and I do occasionally have to retune it. Sadly the UK EPG systems makes changes to easy. French and German channels change less often.

The precedence was already established regarding location. I didn't move the goalposts so you should address that question to mogie.
As I stated earlier, I still prefer the original location for the custom apps because it uses an area few people ever use. i.e. Music and Photos. Any update I do will continue to use that area.

His nym is mogie, not moggie as in cat, and I don't need to talk to him again. I've already asked him about this in his thread on AVForums. He has already stated that it in hindsight it may have been a bad decision to change custom locations,However he has made no offer to rectify this. Instead he commented about giving credit for using some of my ideas, but he has completely misunderstood my motive.
It has nothing to do with recognition. My whole point was about maintaining already established structures and applications so that users like yourself can enjoy the benefit of new innovations without the totally unnecessary hassle of having to configure everything all over again. Like I said, I believe in continuity by building on what was already there, not re-inventing the wheel.

I really hope you continue to support your release. Its a fantastic piece of work that has really extended the capability of the Humax.

You are absolutely correct, the only way to implement progressive new features in a rational way is to agree common standards now and stick to them. I can't believe it would be that difficult for mogie to move his software to be compatible with yours. We would then have the best from two clever people.

What are the main differences between the two version in terms of what they do? (rather than where stuff is stored.)
