Hi,

I've had the Wildfire now for just over two weeks as an upgrade from Orange.

Last night I noticed a dead pixel near the centre of the screen. It disappeared for a while but is now back again this morning. On a white background, it shows as a bright purple little dot on the screen and is very annoying.

My question is, would this be described as a 'fault' to Orange if I called them and would I be able to get a replacement since it is under 28 days old?

A lot of suppliers of monitors have a 'dead pixel' policy, something like 2 or 3 are deemed acceptable, do phone suppliers use this 'get out' clause too?

I'd want my phone changed fast if it happened to me.

Did you upgrade over the phone or instore? Usually on mobiles if a dead pixel presents itself Orange normally don't have an issue replacing it, would be different if it were a laptop or TV however smartphones due to their screen sizes are often viewed as needing to be free from defects. At least that is in my experience.

Give them a call?

Hi Nockie,

Sorry to hear of the problems you have had with your phone. I have been in contact with our Handset Fault Team who have advised as long as this is not a result of damage you should be eligible for a replacement. With it being just one pixel the chances it the phone has been damaged is slim so they should not be a problem. Just call Customer Services from your phone (150 for PAYM or 450 for PAYG) and they will take the necessary details from you.

Hope this helps.
