Overall. I was pretty disappointed. They're a very talented bunch but a lot of them didn't really live up to expectations. The standouts for me were definitely Casey and Paul. They showed the most originality in their performances and were the only ones that I didn't end up comparing them to the original. The surprises of the night for me were definitely James and Stefano. I wasn't expecting to like their performances but they changed my opinion and won me over. The biggest let downs for me were Robbie and Jacob. Up to this point they have been very consistent but their performances last night left me wanting... So, what did you think?

I wouldn't want to listen to five minutes of that let alone an album's worth. I'm sure he'll be safe this week but I don't think he'll last long unless he backs off the growling and shows what his actual singing voice is like. At the moment, I'm not sure I even know
The good
Jacob & Scotty were my favourites with Paul just behind.
James was pretty good.
I didn't think Jordan was as bad as some of the reviews I have read.
Casey did a good job, I want more from him though.

They probably should've let the girls go first. It wasn't a good live show to kick off with and just makes me glad half of them are getting cut in one week.

2. Jacob - I expected him to be OTT again but he was surprisingly contained. Probably the best vocal of the night.
3. James - Like Jacob, I expected something OTT. But he picked a song that actually suits him and his voice and it worked.

1. Casey awesome, do you really need explanations? The guy is genious, you could just feel "the song" in your spine.

Just caught up with the show and my top 5 that IMO should go through to the final 12 are:

I'm inclined to agree about the judges, they were a tad tame, but I find it hard to believe that anyone could be so dismissive over some of the incredible performances that were on offer,
There were at least three exceptional performances, in my opinion.

It's not at all, there were some very promising performances in there from the boys, some bad ones obviously, but some very promising ones, couple of them look very interesting indeed.
But then again, if you keep harping back to a previous series you're not going to find anything to like. I've my own favourite Idol who I'm a massive unashamed fan of, but I'm quite happy to give all the new crop a go, who knows, in a couple of shows time I might end up with someone else who I can have fun finding out the back catalogue of and follow in the future. Hell, I even liked Shrieky McShrieky doing Judas Priest, which was a shocker for me as I disliked him a lot in Hollywood week.

Personally I'm not a fan of Adam Lambert and I think this is a great series so far. Even the critics are commending the talent on offer.

I am a fan of Adam, but I am not comparing this year crew to him. They are different (even James who I like) and I'll appreciate them for who they are.
I liked many of them. Casey, James and Scott. Jacob is good, and Tim, Robbie, Stephano and Brett are fine.
Only the first three performances were bad.
