Hi

I am looking to buy a new smartphone (preferably Android based) on Tesco Mobile and am a bit stuck. I have narrowed it down to the following three phones:

Samsung Galaxy Europa
Sony X10 Mini Pro
LG Optimus GT540

Does anyone have any opinions as to which of these is a good option? I already have an iPod Touch so the multimedia aspects are not as important as they might be. I just want a phone that is easy to text on and one that can access my emails and internet whilst I am out and about.

I am limited to this small selection of phones because I have already identified that Tesco Mobile (who I am currently with) are by far the best and cheapest provider for my usage patterns.

Currently the X10 mini pro is the one that is tempting me the most as the screen size is not that important because of my iPod Touch.

Ideally I would like the HTC Wildfire but Tesco only do it in white and I really don't want a white phone.

Any help would be much appreciated as I am very confused!

Thank you!

Avoid the LG Optimus GT540. It has a resistive touch screen and will literally make you cry.

With regards to the X10 Mini Pro - do you really want the added bulk of the slide out keyboard? If you need it, then this is the only phone for you (of the three) and if not, you should probably exclude it for the same reason!

The Galaxy Europa is a pretty nice little phone. It does have a pretty small screen, although you said this wasn't a problem and you do benefit from longer battery life as a result. The camera quality is a little poor (especially in low light) though and the resolution (2MP) is quite low.

Many thanks for the advice.

I actually quite like the idea of the pull out keyboard as a lot of the reviews of touch screen phones say how hard it is to type messages if you have larger fingers (like myself!). However, the Sony is much more expensive.

The Galaxy Europa did look tempting although a lot of people are reporting a bug where you receive the same text message about 75 times, which would be very annoying! Apparently there is a fix out there for the issue but I take exception to the fact they are sending out a phone to the market with this problem in the first place.

I had heard about the resistive screen on the LG and will take your advice and avoid it, particularly as I am used to the iPod Touch.

I found the GT540 touchscreen very sensitive.
The others are low resolution screens so its down to personal requirements if you really have to choose one of those.
