I am moving into a new build property so will need to cough up for a new line installation. I really hate BT as talking to them is like pulling teeth, however, I am worried about going with another company as they all have such bad reviews. A new line install with Primus is £69 and they say it would take 10-14 days. BT is only £30 but say over three weeks! Primus has cheaper line rental costs and call costs. Can anyone offer any advice? What would you do? I need to make the decision today if possible.

Also we have free BB from Orange, would this steer me one way or another?

Thanks.

Whichever company you decide to use will have to use BT Openreach to install the line and, as BTOR is prohibited from giving any company priority, variations in stated supply times mean nothing (except, perhaps, that one potential provider lies more than another).

You're not seriously considering making non-inclusive calls via your line provider are you? Have you not heard of www.18185.co.uk, the MSE UK CallChecker and the International CallChecker?

When I moved into a new build in 2003, I stuck with BT and still recommend that (so that all indirect access calls providers remain available). However, whenever I say that, I get 'accused' of being a BT employee!

TalkTalk are doing newline installs for £29.99 which I believe comes with half price call plan for 12 months. They obviously use BT Openreach for the installation work, same as other providers.
