About time too, it always seemed very tame and family friendly on BBC ONE. It can go back to the way it was 'post-watershed' and become even more enjoyable to watch. All in all I think this is great news for the show.

I've never understood why it matters whether any show is on BBC One or Two.

Surely you can have the same content within the show on both channels, and people are more than capable of pressing a button to switch to the correct channel!

Why is it that BBC Two never seems able to attract large ratings, whatever program is shown, when it is available to everyone?

Hopefully it will be fixed at 10.00 on each Friday and not be shunted from the schedules like it often was on BBC1.

It must be a psychological thing that everyone is programmed to think 1 is better than 2.

It is all about past reputation of the channel concerned, BBC1 has a reputation for light entertainment and general family freindly shows, BBC2 Has a reputation for niche programming and pushing the boundries more. When a show moves from Two to One they are allmost always watered down to fit in with BBC1's family freindly programming.

Am I the only one who wants to know the real reason why this change is happening?

Most likley a combination of not getting high enough ratings for bbc1, and complaints from long time viewers about the watering down of the show since the switch from bbc 2.

It probably wasn't performing well enough ratings wise as the BBC had hoped after a move to BBC ONE. It shouldn't have moved to BBC ONE in the first place. It is so stupid when a show gets "upgraded" from BBC TWO to BBC ONE.

Maybe the BBC have a new show planned for Friday night's at 8:30pm?

I agree, going back to BBC Two will improve the show. I normally watch it on iPlayer anyway, so my only concern is the content, not its channel or broadcast time.

The news story just read like a load of BS, and I would rather know the truth.

I used to watch the XL edition on BBC2 Saturdays (when it was on ) so the scheduling probably wont effect me but I do agree about the BBC1 8.30 slot being watered down and family friendly. Not sure if it was on purpose or just that the show naturally went down that route after several series but hopefully this move will give them a bit of a kick and get the show back on track.

In the last few series they have tried new guests and some have worked and some haven't. May be at 10pm on BBC2 they could have some new guests and make the most of them.

Nothing to do with the scheduling change but if anybody is going to check out the live streaming of "24 Hour Panel People" this weekend for Comic Relief , one of the panel shows David Walliams will be taking part in is QI alongside guests Sean Lock, Sue Perkins and Russell Tovey.

Interesting as this episode does not seem to feature Alan Davies .

I think the move to BBC 1 was for more ratings. I do think QI lost of some of its edge with its move to BBC. Plus being before the watershed and I also think that the new series are too long now. It does seem more suited to BBC 2.

This is great news. The show just hasn't been the same since the move...I agree that the old ones are still funny, the BBC1 shows just don't hold up.

Have any other shows been promoted from BBC2 to BBC1 and then gone back again?! I can't think of any off the top of my head...

Excellent move (back), of course it should never have been moved in the first place likewise HIGNFY and the 8.30 slot was just foolish then again just foolish sums up BBC1 in recent years.

As for the REAL reason why its being moved - Danny Cohen is the answer. QI does not fit his vision for the channel and on this occasion I agree with him.

Glad about this. As has already been said, it seemed to lack something on BBC1 and I'm guessing this is probably down to editing due to the timeslot. Wise move from the BBC.

I'd also love it if they'd go back to showing the following week's episode on BBC Four straight after.

I wouldn't mind it being on BBC1 as long as they consistently had the edgier XL version on BBC2. One of the other main bug-bears has been the hit and miss availability of the XL version.

To the QI guest bookers:

Now you can lose the phone numbers of the agents for Johnny Vegas, Phil Jupitus, Jo Brand, Sean Lock, Rich Hall and Jimmy Carr. This lot are largely responsible for the drastic decline in quality of this once great panel show. Your reasons for booking panellists should be primarily that they are smart and second that they are funny. Too long have you gotten this equation the wrong way round, mostly getting gag-merchants who either pretend to be or actually are, thick as shite. Stop the rot now!

Apart from the fact all of those bar Vegas appeared in series one.

Clearly, their best work is behind them. Or in the case of Jo Brand, she’s yet to do anything that could comfortably wear that moniker. And no, I don’t rate that dull thing she’s done on BBC4 either.

Never took to Vegas but the rest have had their moments, good & bad. I think it's more to do with who they are guesting with.
That's the same with the one off guests who either haven't had the chance to be back or didn't get the chance at the time to show their best.

I saw an ep the other night with Graeme Garden and he was excellent. I wonder why he hasn't been on again.

We will all have our favourites but as long as they can keep getting Bailey, Mitchell, O'Briain and Anderson it should have some good episodes to come.
