Hi,

Sorry if I'm not posting in the correct area but this morning I received the following message from the contact form on my website:

-----------------------

Name: paul gadd*
E-Mail: paulgagg@hotmail.com*
Subject: thick c**t*
Message: F**k off you dozy f**king c**t!!! And are you availble for some boy on man action

-----------------------

So I have the IP and managed to get the service provider as "Research In Motion UK Limited" which is for Blackberry devices. Now I want to report the IP for abuse but I can't find any contact email address. Can anyone please help, point me in the right direction about where I might report this dumbass.

Thanks.

Just delete it and move on.
Even if it's investigated (which is unlikely) it'll probably get traced to some poor sod who's had their phone nicked.

Presumably, that is a bogus name because that's the real name of the convicted Gary Glitter!

You might try help@rim.com and send them an email but l assume you cannot filter out such obscene messages via the contact form? At least with standard email you can set it to regard email from certain senders as spam.

Although this is an aside, here are a few links that just might be of general interest:

I did email help@rim.com but I got an auto reply saying it had not been sent. I showed that email to a friend and he said it was Gary's real name which is why I didn't bother replying because it will be a bogus email too. Not that I would have replied anyway.

Thanks for the links

Hopefully, this will be a one off, but if it isn't would it be worth considering redesigning the website to have a standard email address as a contact which would allow suspect and repeated emails to be regarded as spam?

I wouldn't even know where to begin with that. I've had my website 2 years and I've never had any emails like this (at least not that I can remember) so it will probably be a one off. Hopefully if it does happen again it will be easier to report them to their ISP.

If it's coming through to your BlackBerry though wouldn't you need to report it to your ISP or Service Provider not BlackBerry?

BlackBerry is only pushing the content through to the phone...

I don't have a Blackberry. I have an iPhone, the email came through to my email (jack@jack-bromby.com) sent from a Blackberry device. So I'm trying to report the IP to the Blackberry company.

Sounds like the kind of thing someone would send in response to being spammed. There may well be more to this than meets the eye and that the OP is telling us.

Just delete it... what's the big deal anyway? Someone obviously gets kicks out of being a prick hiding under a false name, they're pathetic.

I am going to ignore it.

And what is that suppose to mean? I do not know who this person is, I received that message randomly and did not do anything to this person.

If you say so. I just called it as I saw it with my highly tuned intuition developed over many, many years for this kind of thing. Of course it could be one of your contacts whose computer has been compromised and is spamming all and sundry using spoofed sent addresses from their address book, which of course, includes you.
