Does anyone know where I can get a power lead for a Mikomi LCD TV? The power supply is 12V - 3.5A - 42W.
The TV model no is LCD1701W.
Thanks on behalf of daughter whose TV this is and who has taken over the living room's TV on a semi-permanent basis as hers is not working.

Try somewhere like Maplin if you want a physical shop to visit or CPC if you want to go online.

www.cpc.co.uk

Any generic 12V power supply will do as long as it is capable of supplying at least the 3.5A of the old one. And assuming the TV has a standard round DC power connector on it and not some weird propriety jobbie.

Search Ebay for "Laptop Power Supply 12V". the first random hit gives http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=l...c0.m270.l1313#
At around £13 is this the same as what is required? It comes with a "free" power connector adapter.

If buying one from ebay etc, as well as matching the voltage and power rating (a psu of higher power rating is fine) you must also match the connector and polarity.

Many tv's use a 4 pin 12V power plug, and note there are two different common ways of wiring this. Both sorts are available, but make sure you buy the right one.

I've bought the very cheap ebay ones from Hong Kong a couple of times and they seem fine, but do take a week to 10 days to get here.

Thank you for this. I will get on to it right now.

Though ... a standard round DC connector? On the TV it IS round with 4 little pins in it, I presume that's normal.

I'm a bit of an ignoramus about these things. My husband died last December and I'm now having to learn for myself.

This one is probably what you want http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/12V-4-pin-powe...item1c193d963e

There's a little picture showing which of the 4 pins is positive and which is negative.

Most tv's have a similar picture next to the power socket, so compare them to make sure the positive and negative pins are the same.
