Yes there is a judging panel. Might be difficult for people to recognize it, because for the first time we see a panel that has a true music legend. Also, it doesn't contain someone that seems to think the show revolves around them and how mean they can be. I also don't see any judge trying to prove how much they want to f*** the female judge nor any fauxmance between the pair.

Takes some getting used to, but once you accept all these shortcomings you can grow to love it.

The whole thing has a much better atmosphere after Cowell's departure.

Odd? No. Boring? Yes.

The ratings suggest that a lot of people are not finding it quiet as boring as you.

It takes a couple of weeks of live shows for the ratings to tell the true story.

But weve been watching the auditions, hollywood, etc for weeks now & have enjoyed (or not) the new judges, and other changes which I think have made Idol more enjoyable to watch this season - reflected as I have said in the ratings so far.

Personally I would not care a jot if people started turining off, I would still say that, so far, this Idol has been good TV.

Most of all I have found it more relaxiing to watch as I have not been screaming 'you bunch of idiots' at the TV, but of course there is time for that as the series progresses.

Did get a bit peeved that they kept Stefano over better talent, but other than that I'm happy with the last 13.

The one thing that appears to be missing at this point is a stand out winner, but again I dont really care if the winner goes on to be a huge success or a big flop, but then I'm one of those people who only watch shows I enjoy, if I started to get bored I would change channels - lifes far too short to watch stuff you dont enjoy.

At first I thought the show would suffer without SC's acidic observations, but I like this new, kinder AI. It's hard enough to get up there to be judged by millions, without being verbally slaughtered by some English dude who can't act or sing to save his life. Loving Steve Tyler and at least all three judges know what it's like to get up there and perform.

Well good for him - he's made a fortune, but I for one am a bit bored with the nasty comments. He's left at the right time. He's never been the best at picking the talent. Always picking people based on their looks rather than their ability. The standard is higher this year because of the singers on the panel IMO.

The panel this year is a joke with the exception of Randy who is at least making some sort of effort to keep things real.

I never expected anything more than the wishiwashiness we're getting from J Lo but I expected more from Steven Tyler. Is he stoned, pissed, addled, scared of being thought of as the nasty judge or taking the producers' dime and toeing the party line? Either way I'm feeling increasingly embarrassed for him.

Who has, with a few exceptions, an awful track record with those signed to his label, has called it wrongly on so many occasions it was laughable, rattles on about people being 'relevant' without the vaguest clue of what he's talking about, will dismiss any song choice if he doesn't know the song (and my goodness there's a lot he doesn't know), didn't appear to be actually listening to the performances on occasions (as evidenced by some of his remarks afterward).

Yup, sounds just like the sort of person I'd want judging me

Really? The biggest? Only in his own mind, or so I thought until you came along and acted as deluded as he appears to be.

Simon's OK but his real talent is knowing how to BS, exploit and make money in the process.

Music is not his strong suit.
