Legal Android App?

Just downloaded 'MP3 Music Download' from the Android Marketplace which is letting me download music for free.

Is it legal? Whats the catch?

I have it as well - I think what it does is scour "hidden" directories where people store their music collections online. They are not intentionally sharing and you are not uploading (sharing) - it is very fuzzy ground. You can do the same thing with Google - their are loads of "search hacks" out there.

Ethically it is questionable, but it is also nigh on untraceable as well... Go with your conscience.

Is there a better one to use or is this the best one?

There is another one called GTunes Music. To be honest I've not really used either much but I would say MP3 Music Download has a better interface.

The app itself says it's there to search for royalty free music on the net, but I suspect it's actually searching any sites it can find for free downloads. It's very unlikely they're legal free downloads of popular hits though. If you don't care about music artists getting the royalties they should be due and buying music legally, that's your choice.

"Free Music Download" is good.

I like things for free. I don't care about the artists. I don't have a conscience. And this is a fully 100% legal application.

The application itself may be legal as it's essentially a search engine and they're not hosting the music, but if they were it would be on very dodgy ground legally.
