Has anyone else experienced this problem? We have recorded a few films recently using the EPG. However, rather than the recording stopping at the end of the film it has continued for another few hours (up to 8!). Has this happened to anyone else and does anyone know how to rectify? Thanks.

Yes I have had one for a few years, mine always had a problem with recording off the EPG,keeps recording,

My cure is to only use manual recording times. This seems to work OK. I also think the model is made by another and re badged Sony, it as always had poor reports.

The model was always beset by freezing problems which Sony seemed incapable of curing or admitting too.

There's an update on the Sony site to version 1.70 firmware. I assume you've already done this?
Mike.
Edit. Ignore this, I've misread the model number. Doh!

If I am not mistaken the RDR 910 as the HDMI out & also a bigger memory disc, both models came out at the same time, but alas the 710 was full of glitches, DS had a thread on this model that was always freezing, anyhow as I put up earlier I use the manual recording system, one other point we were all advised to turn off the auto software update, as this was the cause of the model freezing & a few other problems.

On the pro side, stunning pictures recorded on HQ plus,I record direct from the Panasonic D28 TV from its HD tuners
stunning pics even though up-scaled on HQplus.

Nigel Goodwin told us who made the RDR range for Sony,a couple of years ago, Sony never came clean about the freezing and other EPG problems, even though they knew the 710 had a major problem, never put out a new software , I also recall some one in the unofficial Sony trade (a n employee who felt sorry for customers) told us on DS about switching off the auto update, as a means of freeze preventing, Sony got a very bad name over the RDR 710 & could have done more to help.
