Need a decent music player too, you can't rename tracks or add pictures to mp3's with the standard player.

I would and have done.

Poweramp is probably the best music player on Android. One of the very few that come with an equaliser as well.

As for fave apps:-

Fancy Widget. Nice clock and weather app. Looks very much like HTC sense when you add the proper skins to it which is very easy. Look for skins called H7C.
MSNTalk. Nice MSN client.
Catch that Bus. Absolutely superb app. Uses the phones GPS to locate the bus stop your standing at and downloads real time info on the bus timetable. No use if you drive though lol
DolphinHD web browser. Much better than the stock Android one.
Barcode Scanner. Scan any barcode and will tell you where the item can be had cheaper

SKY+ is also good for setting up recordings when you're away from home.

Very new to this, just having bought an Xperia x8, and my needs are relatively simple. FWIW, the customizations I've made are;

1. HelixLauncher (so much better than the default)

2. Super Compass (great for walkers)

3. Lightning Bug (relaxation sound generation)

I've also customised my various screens, using Helix, and wonder if anyone else can put me right as to what a certain symbol means? I've added a widget which shown me -

Battery power indicator, then 6 symbols.
I've ID'd 1-5 as, Aircraft Mode, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Speaker/ sounds, and Roaming. But the last one eludes me. It looks like a hammerhead with the bottom bit of a smiley underneath it. Any ideas?

Is there a site or app which allows you to watch movies online?

I'm using the trial version and like it a lot. I'm likely to buy when this runs out.

the stock music app on my nexus, i have tried loads, yet love it's simplicity. Plus, gingerbread has brought bass boost and 3d surround effect with graphic equalizer, it just got better (though you have to download MusicFX free from the market to unlock these features)

Is it just the Android Marketplace you can get stuff from? Just that the game 'NOVA' is nowhere to be found....
