I wonder how many people will be fooled by the 'HD Ready' part of the advert?

As far as I'm aware there is no need for a special aerial to get HD transmissions?

These aerials have been around for a long time without the ludicrous HD Ready label.I've installed a few for friends who didn't have a connection for external aerials for portable T.V sets and they seem to work quite well although they are a bit bulky. The price they're being offered for is unremarkable,I used to order them from Amazon for not much more.

Just a marketing ploy. Ordinary aerials will in most cases pick up the HD channels as well as the ordinary channels. (Some people are told that they need new HD aerials just as a money making racket by the unscrupulous). Of course, it can be argued that the retailer is just confirming to the public that this aerial will pick up the HD transmissions.

I replaced my broken aerial with an even older (30 years+) aerial that my parents had spare and BBC HD on Freeview looks brilliant.

My grandparents have got an aerial which was installed when James Callaghan was prime minister.

It works brilliantly with Freeview HD, apparently.

aerials are aerials theyre just in different groups

A B C/D and wideband basically

as long as you have the correct one for your aera you will be ok

At that price it's probably only 1080i.

Indeed. There is no such thing as a "digital" aerial.

If you are still getting analogue terrestrial TV, unless you live in a weak signal area when you may need a high gain aerial to receive all the digital TV channels available on switchover, there is usually no need to change your existing aerial.

Nowhere near 32. Would not fancy its chances for a long life fitted outdoors either.

Virtually as good as plugging a chocolate teapot in unless one lives within sight of the TV mast.

Oh, dear oh dear oh dear. Haven't laughed so much in ages. They must be counting all 4 bits of each X...?

However, I would say I'm not sure that a German grocer is necessarily the place I would go for such a key bit of kit for my TV system??

Fine place for German beer and other german grocery products (other German grocers are available) but as for TV aerials perhaps not.

To be fair, I guess their product people just repeated the spiel they got from their suppliers.

I'm lucky where I live as the local transmitter is in line of sight, however we only get the Lite service.I've had no problems getting a signal from any aerial even if it's not really designed to work on the UHF TV band.Wonder if my loft aerial will be compatible with the intended "Feelaround"or "Smellovision"services when they launch<vbg>

Rumour has it that if you go outside without your 3D specs on, the aerial will only appear as 2D.

3DTV is great. I wish real life was in 3D, it would be so much better.

Well, actually, that antenna will be more than suitable for the vast majority of consumers who live in strong to medium reception areas. And I suspect most will fix this in their loft anyway so no issues with the weather. If you know you are in an OK reception area, then this thing will work just fine.

Also, probably best not judge something before you know anything about it. The antenna in question is mass produced and re-branded. This exact same antenna under a different name sells for £39.99. Also it is weatherproof and is no worse than another antenna that might happen to cost 3 times as much.
