Ipod Touch Knackered

07-03-2011
About a week ago my Ipod Touch was working and then it just conked out.

It's about two years old. Don't particularly want to lose what I have got on there.

All I get now after I charge it is the Apple sign in the middle of the screen. It can't reboot at all.

Any suggestions of what's wrong?

I live in London and if I took it into the Apple Store would they fix it straightaway or would they send it away.

Thanks

Andy

Out of warranty Apple would charge you a fee - for the iphone it is around the £140 mark. For that they would replace your product with a refurbished model (as long as the one you are returning is in a million pieces and the model is still supported).

They would not retrieve your data in anyway i dont think and your ipod would be sent away, fixed and made ready as a refurbed model.

Have you tried syncing it to itunes and restoring from the last back up.

My iphone 4 did the apple logo thing once after an update and a restore through itunes it was all working again.

Hold down the power button and the home button for about 10 seconds

Or

Put it in to recovery mode, leave the USB cable plugged in to the pc, power off the iPod, press and hold the home button, and connect the USB cable to the iPod, wait for it to boot up in to recovery mode, and follow the instructions in itunes

No. I haven't tried it yet.

I was just being nice and thanking people for their time.
